C-sections

Post C-Section clothing tip

I'm currently three weeks postpartum after my second c section. First was an unplanned section, second was scheduled. While recovering from my first c section, I had to buy all new jeans, because my incision was tender for at least nine months, and the waistband of all of my pre-pregnancy pants irritated it.

Just today I discovered that if you fold a belly band/Bella band/Be band (the maternity bands that are supposed to allow you to wear your regular pants longer while pregnant) in half and wear it UNDER your jeans against your incision, it will help make them more comfortable by keeping the waistband from rubbing against your incision.

Wish I'd figured that out last time, so I'm passing it along in case it helps anyone else. :)

  • Good tip. It sucks that your incision was tender for so long. Mine was so low that waistbands never hit it.

Mine too, I had to buy granny panties because every pair I owned sat on my incision.

My SIL and I share maternity cloths, her first two were vaginal births. So when I gave her back the cloths after DD she wondered why there were granny pantie in the bin. After her 3rd (csection due to plecenta previa), she understood, lol.

  • After my c section I needed support for my stomach but the wrap they gave me was too tough and uncomfortable. So I wore my Bella band under fold over yoga pants and instead of folding the waist band over I left it pulled up for double the support. It has helped my stomach shrink. However I still haven't brought myself to wear jeans yet.

This! Just bought an 8 pack yesterday in prep for my 2nd cs in Nov. No idea where I put all those pairs from last time. Also, my incision was super low but I still have to buy an extra pair of jeans bc all of mine are low rider hipsters tight ones. Oh and it took me a while to lose the extra lbs so needed a pair of transitional high waist 'mom' jeans... Jk, they were normal, just a lot higher than what I would normally wear...
  • At the advice of my dr I put a folded up burp cloth directly over my incision and held it in place with the Bella band or the wrap they gave me at the hospital for the first two weeks. It helps support your muscles, pressing against it made sneezing and coughing slightly more bearable!
