Forgive me if this has already been discussed. My 11 weeks old is on a nap strike. He wakes up after only 20 or 30 minutes every. single. time. He wants to be held all day so I'm a little exhausted and I know he is too. He sleeps great during the night (only waking once for a feeding around 3:00 am) but I know he should be sleeping for longer during the day. At night we swaddle tight and he's been sleeping in his swing. I haven't been swaddling for naps but still put him in the swing. He hates laying flat. Anyone have any great nap tips?
Re: Nap issues.
DS was on a nap strike last week, but it passed. There were a few days I was so frazzled because he would only nap if I held him and cry and wake up as soon as I put him down. This week we are back to the norm of a good 2 hour nap and then an hour nap a couple hours later. We have still had him in the swing. We only swaddled at night, but I'll use the A & A blanket and tuck it around his arms so he doesn't flail and then put a warmer blanket on top of that and turn the air down a bit so it's chilly and he's snuggled up in it. Plus I use white noise for naps and not at night (we do use fans at night though).
It should pass. You're doing great!
But mine's only coming on 8 weeks so I'm sure what works now will all go to shit in the next month.
She used to nap for 30 minutes and wake up, and as soon as she fussed, I would run to pick her up. Now, I swaddle her, put her in the swing with white noise and I walk out of the room. If she wakes up after 30 minutes, I just leave her to fuss a little and give her time to put herself back to sleep. She usually takes a morning nap between 2-4 hours. Maybe you're not giving you LO a chance to put himself back to sleep. And I would definitely swaddle!
And my LO will be 12 weeks on Thursday too @Aab7114
