  • Y'all are literally just further proving my point by being nasty to me :) I find you pathetic honestly your adults...

I hope that someone corrected you. It's 'you're adults.' Thank you for playing.

I just wanted to add that the best part about Olive Garden/Red Lobster is the breadsticks and biscuits. However, I have found recipes for both that taste just as good if not better.

Doesn't help when I'm lazy though.

Had OG yesterday for lunch and I gotta admit, totally disappointed with their breadsticks. I felt like I was eating plastic, lol.
  • I love how this turned into a crave-fest for OG. Ours burnt down early this year but they are building a brand new one that is scheduled to open in December. I can't wait to get my Zouppa Toscana fix!

I found a copycat recipe online, and I'm making a huge pot of it tonight!

I agree with the women that started this post my dh and I were floored about the language and the cruelty on here. And I am tired of hearing it's my hormones bc that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I am pregnant and I haven't been hateful or rude to anyone not even dh, and I am surprised this post can use curse words. My thoughts. I am a ftm I have no mom bc she passed away in jan when I saw this app I got excited bc I thought this would be able to help me figure things out. But it's a bunch of ranting half the time.
  • I didnt say anyone was being rude to me. I was just surprised some language, rudeness. Not everyone is like that. But some are a little over board with it.

You know what's the shit? A hot pastrami Reuben on a pretzel roll.
Damn it. Now I want an auntie-ann's pretzel.
All you gluten-loving carbaholic bishes kill me! Now I want pretzels.

I am currently eating spinach for breakfast (and yes, eating breakfast at 1:08 pm, so don't judge). I want anything else!

  • Yes let's talk about food! I went to the best Italian restaurant sat nite my friend and her dh surprised us and took us to biaggis in champaign Illinios. It was awesome. I think I might go eat the left overs now lol.

So, no more Olive Garden talk, then? :P

One of the problems we had moving to Austin from the Bay Area was the lack of good Italian restaurants here. Everything was a chain, and yukky to boot. We've finally found a couple of decent family-run places, but unfortunately neither of them are gluten-free (now that we need GF for 3/4 of the family).

  • @bowlwoman‌ I love all of the Italian food! I was told to limit pasta because it causes fluid retention though.

This is the one I'm planning to try...good ratings, so I'm hoping for the best!

  • I like the OG salad dressing. Their unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks lunch is one of the best things going.
Sam's club sells the salad dressing. It's a staple that I absolutely have to keep on hand.

I just wanted to add that the best part about Olive Garden/Red Lobster is the breadsticks and biscuits. However, I have found recipes for both that taste just as good if not better.

Doesn't help when I'm lazy though.

You realize you can't throw that out there without sharing, right?
Albertsons sells boxed mix for Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits. I haven't tried them but now I'm curious.
Sam's club also sells the boxed mix for those of us that get truly lazy. They are exactly what you get from RL.

I've tried copy cat recipes in the past and they never come close! I'll have to try the one for the biscuits!
The recipe I use calls for bisquick. You follow the basic recipe, mix in some cheddar cheese, and baste them with butter and diced green onions. Soooo good.

I am sorry I was just agreeing with the woman's post that started this. Was just replying and saying what I thought :) which is what this thing is for right. I didn't say anyone was mean to me. I liked the advice u all gave to me. But I have read like tons of other pols post and maybe I shouldn't have replied bc maybe there is more to some of these stories then what I know.

@summersunshine916 - with my birthday next week, my birthstone is a sapphire! Growing up I preferred pink so I would just get jewelry with pink stones (tourmaline) in it and didn't pay much attention to sapphire - what a mistake!!  I am so jealous
I'm sapphire as well, but blue is my least favorite color. Somehow, though, I don't mind my birthstone. :)

We've finally found a couple of decent family-run places, but unfortunately neither of them are gluten-free (now that we need GF for 3/4 of the family).

@bowlwoman I have the opposite problem... We have tons of amazing italian restaurants around here and I know how good they all are from pre-gf experience, but they all suck at GFing!! I'm still pouting over the crappy gf pizza DH brought home last night after insisting on going to his friend's pizzeria for dinner, jerk.

I  had actually started picking up the Vodka sauce from my favorite place and putting it on my own gf pasta, but we moved 25 minutes away for there in April.  There is one AMAZING place that does ALL the GF (focaccia, fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, rice balls, any kind of pasta you could want, etc.) but they're about 40 minutes away now and $uper Pricey!! (Dinner for the 4 of us would come to almost $200 after the tip!)

DH has started pushing that 'gluten cutter' crap- saying his coworker's wife uses it and it works great, I don't believe it for a second and wouldn't take the chance.
We went to a GF restaurant for lunch on Saturday, and it was $80 for the four of us, just getting lunch food and some dessert. But, we did have plenty of leftovers, so if I amortize the cost over two meals, then it's not quite as bad? No? Yeah, that's a lot of $$$ to plop down for even two lunches. But I REALLY enjoyed DH's GF chicken fried chicken for lunch yesterday, and my GF pumpkin cupcake was heavenly.

  • @bowlwoman Mmmmm! Chicken fried chicken sounds good! (I do chicken fried steak about once a month at DH's request but I only just FINALLY mastered a good GF gravy, so I may have to go for that with mashed potatoes and gravy one day soon!
I tried using tapioca starch once, and it just turned the gravy into a slimy mess. It still tasted good, but I so couldn't eat it because of the texture.

I usually just use Bob's Red Mill GF flour for the roux when making white gravy, and I've always just used corn starch to thicken meat gravies.

  • UO: Fazoli's (does that even still exist anymore?) used to have EVEN BETTER breadsticks than OG. Someone comes around with a basket of them while you're eating.

We have a Fazolis, and I do not think their breadsticks are better than Olive Garden!!
You beat me to it. I haven't been there in a few years, but their breadsticks didn't suck.
