Babies on the Brain

Surprise number 3?

Hi!
I have two surprise babies-DD1 was a true surprise, I was on birth control and we were also tracking. DD2 we were just being irresponsible but it feels better to call her a surprise.  ANYWAY...we were thinking of STTC maybe six months from now, but definitely NOT now.
And I'm a week late. And I've only ever been late...twice.
I haven't taken a test yet, which is why I am posting here and not on the May board.  I would be thrilled to be pregnant, hubs would get there but it may take a bit.  If I am pregnant, this would be our last baby, and I would love do do something creative to tell him.  Thinking ahead so that when I take a test and find out what I already know, I can have it all sorted out.
Any fun ideas to tell a slightly reluctant father to be about another wonderful surprise?

  • Txt him. No JK!! :) lol. Okay so i saw that a lady did a surprise like that to her DH. She gathered a box and filled it with things for example B (ball) A (apples) B (bears) Y (yoyo) and at the bottom she had an index card saying " SURPRISE! & I CANT WAIT 2 MEET YOU." i think she gave him a hint on spelling out the objects tho.

  • Ok, well, thanks?
I'm pretty sure it is possible to be late or miss a period with out being pregnant, but I'm no doctor so....whatever(without sounding hostile).
    HOWEVER-got a positive today!
What I was saying is just that were ween't planning on ttc now, but that if I were pregnant that husband would take a bit to be excited about it.  That's all.

Anyway, he knew I was taking the test, and knew by the look on my face that I am pregnant so no fun announcement for me.  Oh well. I'm pregnant!  yay!

  • @mrsfinni - there are a lot of things in life that are possible, but are still a surprise when they actually happen. You enter your name in a raffle and you win. Surprise!
@longlivetheevilqueen - no where in my post did I say we weren't using any form of prevention.   Plus, it is not all that uncommon that a woman using BC, or other forms of prevention gets pregnant. We also learned in middle school and high school some basic grammar regarding apostrophes. And yet, sometimes mistakes happen.

Maybe if I had called it an "unplanned" pregnancy you all wouldn't be so offended? I prefer to be more positive than that. Sorry I'm not sorry.

  • from webmd:

If you are not pregnant, other causes of missed or irregular periods include:

so- missed period with out pregnancy = possible.
and as it turns out, I am breast feeding, had just upped my endurance training for a race this spring, just returned from a month long trip, my doctor just changed my thyroid meds, AND due to some unfortunate events in my family, have been under some emotional distress.

but you know, I didn't post on here blubbering about a surprise pregnancy, asking how it could have happened etc...just for ideas on how to tell my husband. Thanks though, for your unsolicited opinions about  terminology and my state of surprise.  I'll be heading over to the May 2015 board now.  Truly hope you girls get over to a monthly board, but glad its not mine.
