We are switching from bm to formula and still use Medela bottles. DD has been spitting up often and didnt know if the bottles are primarily designed for bm or if it really even matters. I haven't heard differently.
No, they're not specifically designed for breastmilk.I'd think her spitting up more than she was previously is probably due to the switch to formula. It could be a senstivity or just her tummy needing time to adjust. Good luck!!
We used them for both and while IMO even the slow nipple is faster than for example our slow Avent nipple, there was not diff related to WHAT was actually in the bottle. Your LO might be drinking too fast or too much compared for BM and that causing the spitting.
Thanks ladies. I agree, she prob. needs to get used to consistently drinking at a certain pace from the bottle. I find this stage to be so stressful. I went through it with my son 3 years ago and I dreaded feedings(he had reflux, gas, etc).
I found the medela calma bottles to be way too fast for my LO, he is a spitty-up baby anyway and those bottles made it so much worse. We use Dr. Brown's natural flow for both breast milk and formula.
I never liked the Medela bottles. I always tell people "they make the best pumps, but they don't care about their bottles" . They're just so basic. I like the Playtex VentAire bottles just to get rid of all that airflow
