Babies on the Brain

Early Pregnancy testing

My period is supposed to start tomorrow. The pregnancy test says it can detect 6 days before your missed period. I have been trying for over a year to get pregnant. I got my prednisone levels checked on day 21 and it said I did for sure ovulate. I was not ovulating in the past and now I'm on clomid. I'm so impatient I just want to know. Last time I was prego it didn't show positive till week 5 (and was negative on the day after my missed period), but that resulted in a miscarriage, so I'm not sure if there was something wrong from the get go? Should I just wait till week 5 if my period hasn't started? Sometimes my period comes at week 7 (I'm irregular) so I don't know if it doesn't start by tomorrow if it's a "missed period". Help, baby on the brain! If the test says 6 days before your missed period, has anyone tried those tests actually before your missed period and gotten a positive test?

14whitney I saw a fertility specialist. She did like 5 or 6 tests for a whole cycle before I started Clomid. Before clomid my pds were sometimes 2 weeks apart sometimes 7 weeks apart. I've been on Clomid for 3 months and am ovulating and have finally had a constant pd at 28 days for those months, so that's why I'm pretty sure it should start tomorrow (if it starts, hoping it doesn't. Just wondering if anyone has tried those tests 6 days before their missed pd.
  • Just take a test for the heck of it. If it comes up negative try again next week. With DD i got a positive until 9 weeks preg i kept testing and all said negative and even went to the doctors at around 5-6 weeks and negative. Went to heartline like 3 wks later and got a positive. U/S confirmed 9w3d. ALL women are different so do what u think is right. And keep me updated :)

@14whitney‌ The specialist did all those tests and yes I get an U/S when the pee tests say I'm ovulating. The past 2 months the pee sticks said I was ovulating but when I tested my prednisone levels they were too low. This month I did the First response ovulation test and I'm 14 days past ovulating now and my progesterone levels say I ovulated this month. My husband did get his sperm analyzed. If conventional methods don't work this month the next step is a sperm wash. I know she doesn't plan on me staying on clomid if it's not working. Thanks for all the tips. Sometimes I feel so lost and alone trying to conceive, especially because my sister just started trying in July and was pregnant the next month. She's the one expecting (about 13 week along). She doesn't have internet so She asked me to enter that contest for her. I don't expect to win. I have no luck when it comes to anything baby.

What do you mean when you say "sperm wash"? Does your RE intend to do IUI - intrauterine insemination? I would hiiiiighly suggest that for your next 2-3 cycles. Clomid + IUI increases the rate of conception for unexplained infertility to somewhere between 12-15% in many cases, which is just a little lower than the average unassisted couple's success rates. The conventional wisdom is that you shouldn't do more of 3-4 of any given method of TTC therapy w/o moving on to something new, and with the lifetime max of clomid usually being around 6 cycles, adding in the IUI now would be wise.

Feel free to ask questions - a LOT of us have been through Clomid/IUI/general IF and can usually help fill in the gaps where your RE might be leaving off.

False hope is cruel and wasteful.

A very small percentage of women will be unable to turn a pee test positive because they do not process hCG out through their urine. That's it.

Telling a woman to that she won't turn a test until 9 weeks is ridiculous, wrong, and spreads crazy. I have no idea what happened with you, but if it did go down the way you say (which I am dubious) then you are very very very rare and it's unfair to tell other women they may be like you.

Never told anyone that they could be like me. I just told what happend to me and thats it! Damn. And yes its possible! Otherwise it wouldnt have happend.
And next time read the post right...

What is "girl stuff"? Communication is "girl stuff"?

You give and get advice. Not advise.
