TTC After a Loss

*slightly late* Intro

Hello all,
I've been posting in the Ladies in Waiting check in, but I can't remember whether I did a general TTC After A Loss check in. (all of these checkins with both the loss board and here and the individual check ins, I just dont remember).

We lost our firstborn son Fenix July 31 2014 at 36 weeks gestation. The cause is thought to be a tear in the umbilical cord, but we don't know and probably never will know for sure. He was 7lbs 3oz of beautiful baby boy, healthy and perfect aside from being born sleeping. I had a perfect pregnancy with no issues, and then on that 36 week appointment there was no heartbeat. I could go on and on about how it tore our life apart, but unfortunately I know you ladies can relate.

I'm DH and I are both 23 and finishing up our Masters degrees in counseling. I'm going the school counseling route and DH is working with clinical mental health. Right now we share our home with 4 parrots and an English Mastiff who are our fur/feather babies.

We are TTA until January 2015 in order to give me time to heal physically and to prepare ourselves emotionally for the roller coaster that is TTC after a loss. Doc said there's no physical reason for us to wait past the typical 6 week post delivery healing, but  we thought it best to wait at least until January. New Year, New Slate I guess is the mindframe.

I have just recently started FF charting. I think it gives me a little bit of some sense of control, and plus I'm learning a lot. Thank you ladies for being here and helping me to prepare myself for this journey.

  • Hi there. I've said this in the check-in, but I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your son. I'm glad you are taking some time to let your body and mind recover from what you've been through. ((hugs))

  • You made me curious, though, what life with 4 parrots might be like :-)
Living with parrots is a lot of fun, most of the time. It really is like living with very needy forever-3 year olds. Lots of mess and noise and work, but also lots of love.

Dante is our Red Sided eclectus who is 6 years old. He's by far the most "spirited" of the bunch. Always wanting to get into what he knows he's not supposed to, and he's very emotionally sensitive. He reflects whatever emotion you are feeling that day. These days when things are still fresh with the loss of Fenix, Dante has been acting up a bit and needs extra special attention. His favorite past times are sneaking into Daddy's desk drawers and tearing apart pens. And kisses. Lots and lots of kisses.

Savannah is our Blue Front Amazon, who turned 10 years old in June. She's the "miss goody two shoes" and likes to sit back and watch the others get into trouble. She is very prim and proper when it comes to her feathers and she's definitely got an air about her that lets you know she thinks she's a princess and should be treated as such. Until you get food out, and then she's a food-junky. She knows exactly what every type of junk food is by the wrapper, and she will stop at nothing to try to get it. Peanut M&M's seem to be the most sought after, though she doesn't get them because they're not good for her. She loves sitting with me and snuggling. She's been a great comfort.

Our two "littles" are green cheek conures Teagan and Homer. We actually just recently got them and they tend to keep to themselves lately. They do think they're 10 foot tall and bulletproof and they bully the bigger parrots around.
