Insurance for what?!

So got new insurance... Specifically asked if my physician was covered and they said yes! Go to get my ultrasound (I'm 6w4d, 132 Hb...
But measuring smaller than what I should be). They call me after I leave and ask if I want to cancel my appointment for the next day because they are not contracted with my insurance. Ended up canceling the appointment to try to make other arrangements. Talk about frustrated! At least we got to see the peanut. My deductible is 5k, so we would have been paying for things anyway for a little while. This is my gripe of the day! I really want to keep my dr. Because he removed my endometriosis when my previous provider ignored me and said it's just cysts.. Deal with it. Feel free to share your insurance headaches!

Re: Insurance for what?!

  • I had to switch insurance during my last pregnancy because hubby switched jobs. The new insurance didn't cover the hospital where my OB delivered so I had to switch to a new doctor at 32 weeks. The new place I went was a practice where you rotate through 5 different doctors, and I hadn't met all of the doctors by the time I delivered. The doctor who delivered me was someone I hadn't met, but I liked him the best! It ended up working out fine, but it was so stressful! Good luck, I hope you find a new doctor you like & trust!

  • @MommySuperHero‌ I literally got a new job in July, had surgery in July, pregnant beginning of August. Due to new job I didn't have insurance yet. Talk about a headache
  • After the birth of my third child I received a bill for a circumcision, only problem was, they said the procedure was done on June 28th and I didn't have him until July 23rd.  I figured one call would clear that right up, right?  Nope.  When I called they told me I'd need to provide proof of the date of delivery..........the delivery that happened at their hospital!

I guess I wasn't too surprised given that with my first I received an $18,000 bill for my son's stay in the NICU and they threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay it because my insurance had determined his stay there was "not medically necessary."  Because you know, every mother begs for their child to go to the NICU.

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

Eventually  my insurance paid it, it just took 28 phone calls between me, the insurance company and the hospital to make that happen.

  • We have crappy short term ins right now, hubbys work insurance should kick in a few days before my first prenatal appointment.  Hoping it all goes smoothly - few phone calls are more of a headache than ones made to insurance companies.
    Myself: 30 Hubs: 30  Married in 2010
    BFP: 9/17/2014 (and 9/18...and 9/19...)
    Estimated Due: 5/22/2015
    First one :)

  • Ugh - I'm dealing with my OLD insurance/care provider trying to get access to my medical records so they can be sent to my NEW insurance/care provider. Every time I reach the medical records office my call is dropped! I have to call the main number now and see if they have any alternative means of contacting them.

It wouldn't be such a big deal if I didn't have a moderately extensive medical history that my OB should be well aware of before we have our first appointment.

FX for ALL of our medical/insurance drama to be out the window by the time May comes.
