TTC after 35

Can I O after CD 17?

Hi Ladies,
I am 4 cycles off of the pill.  I had a 25 day cycle last month.  Today is CD 17 and I haven't O'd yet, no sustained rise in BBT.  Should I still keep BD every other night until AF comes or is it just too late?
Thanks!

Re: Can I O after CD 17?

  • I often O on 17 or 18 with a 27-29 day cycle (which is not great) but anyway, I say yes.

"when in doubt hump it out" not my line but I have read here before and it's so true!

  • Thank you so much for the encouragement.  I wasn't sure if I should bother with the BD tonight but now I feel renewed enthusiasm!  Thank you so much!  "when in doubt hump it out" It is my new moto :)
  • I agree with @kindershlitz.  I O'd on 19 but I am usually more 12-14.

  • It can vary. You said the last cycle was 25 days, what about the other post pill cycles?

  • Yes you can O quite late in a cycle, especially coming off bcp!  Keep on temping and sexing!  Best wishes
  • My previous cycle was 29 days.  I friend said I may have ovaries that are on different cycle lengths but to be honest I'm not sure if I have O'd at all yet since being off of the pill.  I know that it can be normal for it to take up to 6 months to O but after 35 it is so hard to wait to see if I will.
  • I'm confused, are you charting your bbt?  If so you should see a recognizable thermal shift in your bbt and that is how you will know you have ovulated.  i don't know what to say about your ovaries being on different cycle lengths.  I have never heard it stated that why, you don't always change sides month to month which ovary has an egg that develops, it is simply the lead follicle that develops an egg faster that ruptures.  You can have variance in your follicular phase length, most women tend to ovulate around the same time, say d 13-16, but not always.  Also you can always have a fluke cycle with a late ovulation for various reasons, illness, etc.
  • Oh great news, I hadn't heard that.  It gives me hope! Thanks
  • You definitely can. I had a cyst last cycle and ovulated on CD 21.

  • So, follicular phase can vary cycle to cycle. Last cycle I didn't O until CD39. This cycle, who knows it could be much less. Environment and life decide if O is delayed. Test and temp and cf every day. But if AF comes and you didn't O, that could happen too. I'm knee deep into "taking Charge of your fertility" and I really recommend it. It's fascinating, and afterwards you will feel so much more armed with info on your body and cycle...
