aw: appt today

I had my 35 week appt today and an u/s (I have extra fluid so they are watching it). This is my 4th u/s since 28 weeks and at each one they try to get a 3d pic and haven't been able to get anything. This time she had me roll on my side and got perfects pics of his little face. He looks exactly like my ds. They could be the same baby they are so much alike. My ds (2.5) saw the 3d image on the screen and said "there's a baby!" It was the first time he's been able to see a baby in the u/s image. Right now ds2 is about 6 pounds 9 ounces. He's measuring a little over 2 weeks ahead. My dh and mil are freaking out about his size. I'm not sure why considering dd was 8lb and ds1 was over 9lbs. I fully expect ds2 to be over 10lbs. I would post pics but I can't figure out how to crop my name out. Grrr!

  • Aww. So glad you finally got some good shots.

  • Congrats on getting some good images.  I am in a similar freak out mode in terms of size.  At 34 week u/s they said he is 6lbs 6 oz and he is also measuring 2 weeks ahead.  I know these things are notoriously inaccurate but since DD was 8lbs 9oz - I am also expecting a big baby.

I don't know how much of a difference the weight makes other than carrying it those last few weeks - I am mostly concerned about head size since DD continues to be at the 95th %ile and my husband's family has notoriously large heads!

    Best of luck!!

My dh and ds1 both have big heads and shoulders. I would be freaking out (as I did with ds1) if I was going to deliver vaginally. I had a c/s with ds1 and will have a rcs this time so I'm not worried about size at all. Ds1 wouldn't fit in the birth canal and had marks on his head from hitting my pelvic bones while trying. My advice would be to get yourself mentally prepared for a cs. I was so against it and it was emotionally difficult for me to agree that it was best in the end. I think everyone wants a vaginal delivery but a cs is really not that bad. Ultimately the goal is a healthy baby and mom.
