Straw Cups

I know we talked about sippy cups back in July but now I have a question about straw cups. I have tried 4 different kinds of straw cups but if it is a rubber or a very hard straw LO will not use it. She drinks out of juice boxes, pouches and restaurant style kids cups with small plastic straws very well but none of which are non spill/leak. I really want an insulated and non insulated option for her. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do you fill the cup all the way up? DD didn't seem to get straw cups, then 2 weeks ago I tried again. This time filling it all the way, she drank from it like a pro.

@Af1004 I hadn't thought of that but I think I fill them up at varying heights. It is usually around 6oz so depending on the cup it is usually pretty full. I honestly think it is the straw because she won't even try if it isn't a small  "normal" plastic straw. The style of the cup doesn't seem to bother her either.

Here are the cups we have tried...

Nuby Sport Sipper she will use this but it is just a glorified nipple with no straw attached to the lid

Munchkin Click Lock Flip Straw Cup she won't touch it because the straw has ribs on it, just bites it

Nuby Insulated Flex Straw No ribs on the straw but has a very slight funnel shape at the top of the straw

First Years Insulated Straw Cup Very hard plastic straw with no flex

We've had success with the Zoli cup.  The straw is pretty soft and they are relatively leak proof.  We've been happy with them.

DD uses this one. I like the weighted straw and it doesn't leak.

We have lollacups. Love 'em. Easy to drink from and indestructible. He's tried.

The only insulated cups we've tried are the Tommie Tippie. I want to use them for target practice. I use the blue frozen thingys that come cut to size. I will post a link if I can find them. I cut them into small segments and wrap them around the Lollacup.

@GermanShredders that Tommie Tippee cup looks crazy complicated. I don't think I will try to attempt it.

That is a great idea. Of course LO decided today that she would drink out of the Nuby Insulated Flex Straw. We shall see if she does it again...

Playtex straw cups have softer straws, but they leak. Munchkin has some cheapie options that you can get pretty much anywhere.

We also use playtex but they leak so much. But both my girls love them so I just clean up the mess.

Have you tried giving LO water or milk out of a regular plastic straw? We were at a restaurant and I held my finger on my straw (to hold the liquid in) and then let DD taste the water. I didn't this several times and then after that, he started drinking from her straw cups.

This is exactly how we taught LO to use a straw. It took a few tries but now she's got it down.
