Breech baby and ECV

Hi ladies. I'm 34 weeks and a day with my third child. Both of my other 2 children where head down from 20 weeks and stayed that way, but this mister flipped from head down to breech sometime between 20 and 32 weeks. I have been offered an ECV at 38 weeks if he hasn't turned the right way by 37 weeks when I am going to be rescanned. I'm trying all the tricks in the book to get him to turn but I was just wondering whether any of you ladies have had ECVs before or really late turners?

Are you seeing a chiropractor? It might be worth looking into a Webster technique certified chiro. My LO flipped to head down after my first adjustment (of course this isn't the case for everyone, though). Good luck!

  • Definitely use the search option. I just posted a few weeks ago about the version procedure. Lots of good info.
Don't know how to link with mobile bumping.

  • I recently posted similarly about my failed ECV. My only advice would be that if the idea of a c section really doesn't bother you much then I wouldn't do it. It does not feel good, only works about half the time, and can leave you sore, bruised, and scratched for days.

That said... if you know you'd keep wondering "what if" and be bothered by a c section experience then I think it's worth a try. Just do the research and know the risks ahead of time!

OP, try Chiropractic or Acupuncture. My LO flipped last week out of frank breech position at 35 weeks after doing both. She'd been that way since around 20 weeks. It CAN work.

  • I had a version on Wednesday at 37 weeks.  2 doctors tried twice and failed and then I got an epidural for another procedure and after that other procedure was done, 3 doctors made 2 attempts with the epi in and even tried to turn the baby from the inside and the baby still didn't turn. I meet all the criteria for success (small baby, normal ute, previous full term pregnancy, relatively slim) and it still didn't budge the baby one inch.  :( I'll schedule a c-secton for 39 weeks but they will try a few more times in the OR to turn the baby before they make an incision.
