Pregnant after IF

~*~ 2nd Tri Check-in (9/17) ~*~

This is a weekly check-in for PAIF members in their second trimester. You can feel free to join at 14 weeks and we will bid you an excited farewell on your way to 3rd Tri after 27 weeks.

*** Someone pointed out that you can technically stay until your 27th week is DONE, whereas I've been wishing people farewell when they hit 27 weeks.  I guess whatever everyone else thinks or wants to do? I'll keep doing it, and use your 27th week as an overlap week? ***

If there are any newcomers that would like to be added to the list, post below and include your EDD.

- How far along are you this week?
- Any appointments or other updates?

Also, please let me know if I have your “team” listed correctly or if it needs to be updated.

QOTW:  What have you been craving, or what's your favorite food? Bonus for PIP to make me drool!

***Graduating to the 3rd Tri next week!!! Good Luck! ***

@kz’s_girlygirl –12/17/14

@orange1414 – 12/19/14 (Boy) - Glad to hear you found a practice that works well for you!  I switched early on and am repeatedly grateful.  It makes a world of difference to be in the care of medical practitioners you feel comfortable with.  Good luck in 3rd tri!

@freakyfast – 12/20/14 (Girl) - Good luck in 3rd Tri!  I'd be bummed without salsa in my life - hopefully baby learns to like spicy ;-)

@grateful&thankful – 12/22/14

December

January

@Viasatalyte – 1/3/15 (Boy)

@sparkles2040 – 1/6/15 (Boy)  - Funny you should mention not doing surprises - apparently my hubby can't either! While I was at work on Saturday, he unpacked all the gifts that have arrived so far and set them up in the nursery. Made my day, but we have to lie to my Mom that they're all still packed away until the shower, haha!

@txultrarunner – 1/6/15 (Team Green)

@dp21 – 1/8/15 - Hope the GD test went well!  What kind of car are you guys buying?

@mrsjoslyn16 – 1/9/15 (Boy)

@ksgsmu – 1/12/15 (Twin Boys) - Sorry you've been uncomfortable, hopefully your doctor has some suggestions. I know physical therapy was super key for me, but then again I'm not carrying twins - double trouble!

@wolfette139 – 1/13/15 (Girl)  - How's bed rest going?  Any updates?  How often do you have to get checked out by the doctor?  Rooting for you - we're almost to V-Day!  That's the first important milestone ;-)

@Southernyankeegirl – 1/13/15 (Boy)

@Itlavac – 1/14/15 (Girl)

@MkateG – 1/14/15 (Twins - Boy/Girl)  - Any update on the job situation?  I hope this week had brought better news for you and that you're feeling better!

@milagros315 – 1/18/15 (Boy)  - When do they have you doing the glucose test? I'm not looking forward to that bit.

@puzzlefuz – 1/19/15

@mrsrichey11 – 1/20/15 (Twins - Boy/Girl) - I hope things keep going so smoothly! Are the twins kicking up a storm?

@hopeby2015 – 1/21/15 (Girl) - I hope a/s part 2 went well!  Any pics to AW?

@tarala – 1/24/15

@lady2010 – 1/24/15  - How was that prenatal water class?  Did the follow up a/s get the rest of the results? Do you know boy/girl, or team green?

@mdiblasi10 – 1/30/15 (Girl) - Congrats on feeling better and being halfway! And yay for a good a/s!

@SKLH – (Girl) - Yay on a "boring" appointment! That's what we all want to have every time ;-)  Do you want to AW any of those cute ultrasound pics?

February

@WA1215 – 2/1/15  - Hope the urine results were good, and that the anatomy scan went well!  Did you find out the sex???

@Robeano – 2/3/15 (Girl) - Congrats on Team Pink!  Glad the a/s went well and that you have a bit more energy!

@Jaztastic – 2/7/15 (Boy) - Where are you? I miss you.

@Neesey – 2/18/15 (Team Green) - I love the name Wesley!  Just for that, I hope you have a boy ;-)

@jaytee16 – 2/19/15 (Twins) - Yay for strong heartbeats! Do you have a date for the anatomy scan?

@Bellalux – 2/19/15 (Boy) - Congrats on finding out Team Blue!  Did you buy anything cute to celebrate your little boy? Any progress on nursery planning?

  • @dp21 - I have had really good luck with RugsUSA.com - we bought a huge area rug for our living room, 100% wool, for $170 and I LOVE it.  We bought another big area rug for our dining room, polyester, and we also love it (super soft).  We're buying a smaller rug for the nursery from there! It freaked me out at first because I couldn't touch the rugs before buying, but with 100% wool at least I knew there wouldn't be tons of chemicals and such.

  • Oh, and if you see a picture online you want to copy, just right click and "View Image" - then copy the URL (should end in .jpg) and then come back here, click the little icon that looks like a Polaroid picture, and paste it in.  Voila!

    I like hosting my pictures on TinyPic.  I find it pretty easy and quick.

    Prepare to spend a whole day ;-)  It's addicting!

    I do love that website.  Don't let the initial prices fool you - put it in your basket and add the code it tells you to for that specific rug.  A $900 rug instantly becomes $180 with the discount code!  With free shipping!  No joke.

    Just be sure to read reviews if they have any, and double check the material of the rug.  I was told that wool is best for babies because (while not quite as soft as the polyester blends), it cleans up really easily, doesn't stain, and has fewer chemicals and off gassing.

    Our wool rug sheds like crazy - fills a whole vaccum with fluff every time!  But It's really comfy and soft and I love it.  DH has already spilled a glass of red wine and it came right up!

    We got THIS ONE:

    image

    The reviews warned the gray one looked more blue-gray than stone gray, which is absolutely true and I'm glad I knew that, but I love it a lot!

  • @ksgsmu - Have you tried making your own ice cream using milk?

    I mix whole milk, vanilla extract, sometimes a little cocoa powder or mint extract or almond extract for flavor, and a little maple syrup.  No processed sugar.  It's delicious!

  • @southernyankeegirl‌ - ur dh sounds so sweet! Can't believe he did all that in 1 day! Hope you feel better!

    AFM: I'm 22w today. The a/s last Thurs went ok. B/w the doc and tech, they were able to get the rest of what they were looking for but this girl is so stubborn or tired (she yawned in the middle of the appt - so cute!) and wouldn't move to get this last pic of the heart they wanted to get. So, they want me to come back but I don't know when yet or if I'll go. It's like I wanna c her again but I don't really wanna take another day off .. so I gotta think about it.

    Also lately, she's been moving around a lot at night! And I love it! She's even woken me up 2x so far and it's great, really. My dh (now that he can feel her) seems to have his hand permanently on my stomach when we're in the same room - even if I'm sleeping. Lol! It's cute for now but I know at some point I will be like please stop.

    Anyway, next appt is Oct 10 with OB.

    Here's the pic (idk what I'm doing either - I'm trying to copy n paste from phone - I can't seem to get it .. )

    QOTW : Chips and salsa or if I get bad heartburn, anything sweet. I want some chips now tho.

  • southernyankeegir Thanks about V day! As for your question: Did you do your GD screening? How'd it go? I FAILED!!! WTF???  I'm a normal weight pre pregnancy and haven't gained much weight with this pregnancy.  I rarely eat sugar.  I can't catch a break.  3 hour test next week.

    24 week sono went well.  Baby is in the 30 something % for weight.  I go back at 28 weeks for another growth sono.  We'll see what happens with the 3 hour GD test.  Fingers crossed I pass.  Can't believe I am 25 weeks already....so surreal.

    Hope you all are doing great!

    As for cravings- chips and salsa.

  • Wow - lots of updates this week.  Hope everyone has a wonderful end of week and weekend.

    Thanks for the personalization @southernyankeegirl.  Hope you are feeling better.

    AFM: I am now 21 weeks, 5 days and feeling good overall.  Follow-up scan was yesterday afternoon - he/she was very active but overall cooperated and they got all the measurements they needed.  We are TEAM GREEN!

    The water class was actually pretty good - and a good workout!  Going back today, and am likely going to start doing laps once a week to get some more cardio in.

    Heading to a family wedding this weekend - more distant relatives but we kind of all grew up together - but haven't seen each other much since as we have all scattered.  I actually don't think a lot of people there know I am pregnant (though the parents know - I just haven't heard anything from the kids - which my sister pointed out was unusual if they know).  So it should be interesting!  I am the last of our generation to have kids.

  • Happy Friday ladies!
    Thank you for the personal note @southernyankeegirl :) I will definitely AW the nursery when I get some more fun things together. We ordered our dresser/changing table topper yesterday. It's on backorder through October, which is of course not an issue for us.
    Had a regular OB appt yesterday & she said my weight & BP looked good. I was relieved bc my weight jumped between weeks 10-14 & she said we would have to watch. I'm only 5'2 and have a petite frame, so I was happy to hear I'm back on track.
    Anatomy scan is scheduled for Wednesday @ 9:15am. I will be happy when it's over, I get too worked up over those kind of appts.
    My cravings are all over, but I mostly love salty snacks. Mmm those french fries look delicious up there!

  • Late post...was out of town with sketchy internet service. 18w 3d today. We are team blue! Had anatomy scan last week and baby was making absolutely sure we knew he was a boy lol! Just ordered nursery furniture and trying to get myself in gear to empty out the closet in the baby's future room. Also trying to plan a baby shower for early December. My OB (and best friend!) will be out of town first week of January and I'm afraid doing later will be cutting it too close. With the holidays in between, we figure that's a safe time. • Hi ladies! Sorry for the late post, my youngest sister got married this past weekend and so last week was filled with a lot of working late to make for the hours I was going to take off for the wedding and then the wedding itself consumed my entire weekend.

    I’ll be 26 weeks tomorrow, 2 more weeks until I begin the final trimester!! I feel like this pregnancy is flying by! Tomorrow I have my final second trimester OB appointment followed by the dreaded 1 hour glucose screening. I’m also been going to physical therapy for my lower back and hips. These past few weeks the pain has slowly been worse and with working my M-F followed by my freelance job every weekend I haven’t been getting much sleep. The pregnancy pillow doesn’t help anymore and the sleep number bed doesn’t help either. So my OB recommended I go to PT once a week. I’ve only had 1 appointment, but so far the stretches and tricks my therapist gave me to relieve the pain have been helping a bit.

    DH and I haven’t really been working on the nursery too much the past few weeks, but now that things are calming down we are going to start making the finishing touches over the next month. I’m hoping to have pics of the final results of our Harry Potter nursery around Thanksgiving. :)

    I did attach a picture of some gifts we’ve received from family and friends so far and some little knick knacks we’re compiling to place around the room. The Nimbus 2000 was a present a friend hand made a few years ago and we are going to mount it on the wall above the dresser.

    QOTW: DH says you can tell I’m pregnant with an Irish baby because my only craving has been potatoes.  Doesn’t matter what kind of potato or how they are prepared I’ve been inhaling them in mass quantities!
