5cm and not active labor?

I saw my MW on Monday and she said I was 5 cm and almost totally effaced, no MP in sight.  It's Wednesday now, and I've only had irregular and uncomfortable contractions.  I had her sweep my membranes on Monday, have eaten spicy foods, tried to keep walking/upright, done squats, had a friend rub my pressure points, and I'm still just hanging out, not in active labor.  I've googled how to induce labor, and I know most of the tips (sex, pineapple, eggplant parm, etc.) but I haven't gotten around to all of them yet.  I've been taking EPO and RRLT.

Give me some hope that this child won't be chilling in here until he's ready to go to college.

Hang in there he'll be coming soon! I've read stories on here of women sitting at 4-5cm for weeks before they're due. With DD I had irregular contractions for 3 days after I had my membranes swept before she was born. My opinion is to just go for walks as you can. Personally, I think the other stuff like pineapple and spicy foods are silly and just stress you out more when nothing happens. Just relax these last few days and try to stay comfortable in between the contractions.

I made it to 7 cm with my first and second before going into labor. I was 5 cm and 80% effaced for a week before being induced with my first and fourth, and 6 cm with my second.

Active labor doesn't begin until 6 cm, and some women make it to 4, 5, 6+ before labor begins. You may be close.
