Bullet proof backpack - thoughts?

I'm coming out of lurking to share this. I love the discussions on here, and thought this topic was an interesting one.

So, I receive periodic emails that highlight local family events, safety recalls, etc. The email this morning mentioned a "cool safety product." It is a backpack that has a bullet proof shield you can insert into it. My jaw dropped when I read about it. I can't believe this is a real thing. It's so sad that something like this would need to exist.

What are your thoughts? Would you buy one for your kid?

So, no. No to bulletproof shields inserted in backpacks.

That was basically my DH's response too.

Interesting concept, but actually more for adults for security when carrying large sums of money...
