Engorged more on one side, where to start?

Hi ladies,
My LO is almost a week old. I'm engorged in both breasts but more on the right. Should I always start on the more engorged side or continue to alternate? I want to drain my right breast but don't want to overstimulate production on that side.

My lactation Consultant suggested hand expression to receive the pain (express until comfort not empty) from engorgement because a pump could take too much and stimulate to make more milk thus making the engorgement worse.
