Pants that aren't "pokey?"

Hoping fellow sensory moms have some advice here...my son with ASD is suddenly firmly against any clothes that he deems "pokey" – anything the least bit stiff, rigid, etc. is out, including denim, twill, corduroy, all of his current cargo pants, and anything with zippers/buttons/snaps. This is his last school year of not having to wear a uniform, but it's a whole year to get through of needing acceptable school pants (that is, not sweatpants/track pants) that don't bother him. I'm also a bit picky about what he wears – nothing with words/letters, characters, etc. Crewcuts sent me an email swearing that their new sweats are "school-worthy," and they do have a slim-fitting, less baggy style, but I still think I'd feel wrong sending him to school in sweats. Anyone have any amazing pants recommendations for a nearly-5 boy who hates being poked by his clothes? TIA!!

AA0417, I had never heard of Shopko! I forgot about lined pants - that's a great solution. Ideally they'd be pull-on pants, drawstring or elastic, and also lined. I'll get to looking! And auntie, I hadn't thought of trying already-worn-in pants from a consignment shop. Excellent idea. I always forget about Hanna Andersson stuff too, and from the link you posted she seems to have a bunch of pull-on options. Thanks!

  • Tea Collection has a pair of boys sweat-like pants that look really good. They also have a cargo option.
  • Thanks kar5162! I will check out Tea.
