4th Non Consecutive loss - +MTHFR PAI-1

Was 11 weeks yesterday with a seemingly healthy pregnancy only to find out there was no heart beat. Mourning the loss terribly. Anyone else familiar with or have the gene mutation MTHFR? I'm devastated. D n c tomorrow. How to mourn one and try for another?

    First of all, I am very sorry for your losses.  You should definitely give yourself time to mourn.  Did the doctor give you a time frame on TTA?  I have no experience with MTHFR, but I know that some of the women here do have that.  I hope your procedure goes smoothly tomorrow.  Welcome to the board.

    I don't have experience with that gene mutation, but just wanted to say that I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope your D&C goes smoothly and wish you a speedy recovery.

    I don't have my follow up scheduled just yet and I can't help but feel like there's something that could have been done. Prior successful pregnancy with lovenox injections that I was told weren't necessary this time around.

    Is anyone trying after waiting only one cycle?

    So sorry for your loss! I have compound heterozygous MTHFR, but didn't learn about it until I lost my set of triplets at nine weeks! Since our loss my RE switched me to vitamin code raw prenatals for the folate, folgard for the high dosage of folic acid, and baby aspirin to keep the blood clotting under control. I am 60% sure I will do lovenex with a future pregnancy as there is concern the baby aspirin won't do/be enough! I am seeing a RE and I have consulted with a neurologist who specialized in the mutation. Feel free to PM me with any questions!! Many hugs!!

    I guess I need to slow down and trust that my provider will direct me. She did talk about seeing a specialist and having more generic testing. May I ask what an Re is?

    I'm so sorry for your loss. There are a lot of MTHFR ladies here and on the PGAL (pregnant after a loss) board. I don't have personal experience with it, but I am sure that some of the other Bumpies can lend some insight.

    Welcome, so sorry for your loss. 

    Me 34 DH 31, Together since 2003, Married August 20, 2011,  TTC since May 2013
    BFP #1 August 24, 2013! MMC discovered Oct. 3, 2013, D&C Oct. 4, 2013
    BFP #2 December 17, 2013! MMC discovered Jan. 28, 2014, D&C Jan. 30, 2014
    Testing done: male with complete Trisomy 16, not hereditary. Tested me for clotting disorders, all normal.
    Feb. 2014 all clear again to TTC!  Will start progesterone supplementation with the next BFP just in case.       Oct. 2014 more testing just because, thyroid and autoimmune panels = normal.  Diagnostic U/S = no abnormalities.  Will keep trying for 3-6 more months, doctor still optimistic!

    BFP #3 December 11, 2014!  Beta #1 14DPO = 122.4 Beta #2 17DPO = 296.8 Please stick little one and be our Rainbow!

            Perfect little heartbeat of 156 seen 1/7/15 :)

    I'm so sorry for your losses. I don't have experience with MTHFR, but wanted to wish you healing and a good recovery. Be patient with your self and don't blame yourself!! I found that i did (and still do on occasion) that and it's not helpful or warranted.

    When we lost our little bean in Feb, i had to go in for a sonohysterogram as it was my second. Once that was done, after the first cycle, we got the green light and started trying again. My SO just told me a few weeks ago that he's now to the point where he's excited to try again, which now looking back, is obvious as to why we really didn't try very hard the first 6 months. So my advice is that once your doc gives you an ok, just make sure you're both ready.

    Sorry for your losses. I also would suggest meeting with a RE and pushing for RPL blood work. Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow.

    Everything went well and the new OB has a plan :) Gave me hope. He's also going to check my homeocystein (sp?) levels and prescribe the lovenox as soon as we have a positive pregnancy test. He suggested waiting one cycle so we will play it by ear with regard to emotional preparedness. He said that unfortunately, I am considered high risk at this point however, this just means closer monitoring. Today is the first day I haven't woke up bawling... Progress. Thank you ladies for the support!

    @holdingouthope has a MTHFR mutation, but a different one I think. She's on vacation right now, but maybe she can weigh in if she has a minute. (hi HOH!)

    @HoldingOutHope Are they having you do baby aspirin in the meantime? I do folgard and baby aspirin until a BFP and then will move to folgard and lovenox!

    @HoldingOutHope‌ thanks for sharing!! It's reassuring to hear our doctors are on the same page. I feel like MTHFR is still a new diagnosis so I've heard of different ways that OBs/REs want to treat it.

    Hey there - I'm late to this as I was traveling last week.  I do have PAI-1 mutation.  My doctor didn't think it was a huge factor into our losses (they can't tell me what was though).... They do have me on low dose asprin as a precaution, but haven't felt the need to do anything more than that.  

    I'm sorry for your loss.  I would definitely recommend a fertility specialist (though I miss my OB terribly).  Hopefully they can find something that will give you a plan to move forward.
