Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

A 2012 study on Recurrent Miscarriage

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/28/cause-of-miscarriage-super-fertile_n_1836384.html

I also have read the fully study. This article made me laugh out loud, just days after my 3rd miscarriage (this one at 12 weeks with a real baby in there). After blaming myself, asking why this keeps happening, what is wrong with me, etc., I like to believe that I am one of these "super fertile" women. I'm super! I actually shared it with my OBGYN and plan on sharing it with my fertility doc when I see them in a few weeks.

For those with RM, that are answerless bc you've been tested for everything under the sun and there is nothing "wrong" with you, this is a different perspective that I wanted to share. Hope it makes you feel better about the RM. It did for me, for whatever reason.

  • Thanks for putting that article up
It actually made me smile :)
I'm trying to recover from my 3rd miscarriage in the last 2 years and I have been feeling like such a failure inside. Reading that article helped to think of it in such a different way, I'm not a failure I'm super fertile ;)

  • kyliehopeful Sounds like we are in exactly the same position. I have had two blighted ovums and then we had a little guy that I lost at 12 weeks...he stopped developing at 10 and there were no signs of miscarriage until the U/S...I don't think my body would have let go but thank GOD for DNCs. My body also held on to the first empty sac for a full 12 weeks. Signs of a super uterus!

Yours must be the same! I bet I could get pregnant instantaneously (as I have in the past), but I don't want to "waste" the time of a 4th miscarriage, as I am 39, and have the ability to do IVF (which I am terrified of).

    What is your next step?

  • Wow our stories are so similar! I'm also 39 too. It's so scary feeling time ticking away, and I am also scared that if we try again it will end up in another loss.
I'm going to speak to my doctor in 6 weeks and see what choices I have left. I'm thinking about ivf with genetic chromosome testing. My main fear is that they don't find a good egg to use. The egg donor program in Australia is terrible, there just isn't enough donors here, so if my own eggs aren't good enough then I'm going to be devastated.
    What country are you in?

  • kyliehopeful  I'm in the US. My health insurance (which is great fertility-wise) would not cover donor egg, and I'm not sure I'd be interested in that. It costs $60k here... Don't worry about your eggs. At least, I'm not. Remember, you are just super fertile! I'd do the IVF with genetic testing too. It's worth the extra money at this point.

I'm meeting with my fertility people in 4 weeks. Of course, they have a vested interest in having you do IVF. Would you do adoption? I don't really want to consider it until I have exhausted my own options, but my husband has a deadline in his mind, bc he's going on 44. And adoption can take a couple of years at least (or less). My therapist says take it one step at a time ;) Can't argue with that!

  • Yes I think adoption would be something we would look into. Wow I didn't realise how expensive the donor option is in the US!
I think we will have a try at ivf as I'm worried that the same thing will happen again if we try naturally. Good luck with your appt in 4 weeks , I really hope it goes well for you. Please keep me updated on your progress.

  • Thank you for posting this. Scared as I go in for my D & C this morning. No heart beat at 11 weeks and no signs there was a problem. Grieving my little angel. This is my 4th non consecutive loss and I have been diagnosed with MTHFR and know that this has something to do with it but I too have a super uterus and am very fortunate to be so fertile. Please say a prayer for me
  • oh i hope this is true...where theres a cause maybe there can be a solution that can really help!!!

  • Thank you @peregrinefalconx‌ Slowly but surely moving forward. Emotionally not in a good place and my body hurts but I'm hoping to start feeling somewhat normal again soon. Goodluck on your upcoming testing.
