Re: GD Weekly Check In 09/16/14
TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
My numbers have been okish, I did cheat by having a sliver of cake on Sunday and had a 144 reading so I really do have to be good.
Other than the rare upper 120's most of my post meal numbers are great. My fasting is still giving me trouble even with taking yet another dose of glyburide at bed time. This morning it was 89 and I thrust my hand up in the air for victory.
As mentioned last week, there is some concern that my placenta isn't doing great so I may be induced next week. I will know more Thursday morning. Baby is measuring great but I am really concerned about his blood sugar post delivery so this week I need to be on point for his sake.
I had been great about testing until the last couple of days. I missed one on Sunday and one yesterday (both after breakfast) and have been slacking on remembering the exact time I took my last bite so I know that I haven't been 100% accurate with that. Just getting so overwhelmed by everything going on.
Diet is fine. I'm still enjoying being able to eat more carbs than I could pre-pregnancy thanks to the insulin shots. If I do "cheat," it's more about the amount of food I eat than about what I eat.
My OB actually told me that it's more important to follow the diet religiously at the end of the pregnancy which of course is the time around which, you get really tired of it.
DS1 was born with perfect blood sugars though (his pediatrician said that she couldn't tell I had GD from looking at this sugars) so I'm using that as inspiration for the last couple of weeks. I would hate for DS2 to think I didn't care as much about his blood sugars. I am getting really tired of checking when I eat and testing an hour later - only 14 more days to go though!

I would think that as long as your readings are within tolerance then your LO should be fine. I didn't have "perfect" readings with DS1 (I had highs here and there) and he was totally fine.
You could just be tolerating carbs pretty well. I actually do pretty good on carbs - I've eaten pizza, pasta, lasagna etc. and been ok as long as I portion control.
And I just had a growth scan last night at 36+4 and LO is only 6lbs and some change, 41.4 percentile, obviously not big due to GD.
So I have been using the Luna protein bars as my afternoon snack. They are filling and somewhat tasty. Also, I like the nutrition peanut packs. They have different varieties and the protein has been balancing out the carbs. I find those quite delish!
I have learned that GD is a bunch of let's see what happens. Real reassuring!
QOTW: Sat we were doing work around the house and I forgot to test twice and then had Chinese food for dinner.

I had a growth scan yesterday and LO is measuring exactly on track! Good to know - I had a couple of highs over the past week and was a little worried. Now just have to stick to the diet for the rest of the pregnancy!
