And now I sound like a sketchy snake lover.
I just like animals. We also have a dog, two cats and a chinchilla. That's more normal, right?? RIGHT?!
My childhood pets were hamsters and toads, and my sister had leopard geckos, a chinese water dragon, a monitor lizard, and snapping turtle and a tortoise.
Anecdote, I used to teach and we took the kids to an animal rescue place that specializes in exotic animals. It is sad the number of giant reptiles and cute furry rainforest animals they had. Why do people try to make wild animals into pets?
H and I had a ball python before we had kids. H had one when he was a kid and really wanted another one, so we got one. We ended up giving him to a friend who works a local zoo when we moved into our house, since we didn't really have any room for his 100 gallon tank.
We currently have a leopard gecko that I had before H and I even started dating. DS1 loves watching him eat crickets.
I don't think our house smells? Maybe I just can't smell it because I live here. I'm pretty sure my 2 dogs make more of a mess than my lizard, so if anything, my house smells like dog.
I am so sorry boundaries can be tough. Have you talked to your husband at all? How does he feel about this? Have you considered talking to a counselor? I will keep you in my prayers!
Re: Help! My in-laws don't understand boundaries!
And you'd say
