School Art work/projects your child brings home

I have a preschooler and one in PreK and everyday they both come home with stuff they did from school and they are piling up....fast! What do you do with yours? Do you scrapbook, store them in boxes, folder? Looking for ideas.

  • DS isn't quite there but I do know I'm not the type to keep it all. My mom always kept a box for each of us and just saved the good stuff. My sister displays them for a bit on her cork board and then they get recycled after about a week unless it was a special project or something.

  • I am saving now bc it's her first year. I plan on sending a few pieces to all sets of grandparents over the course of the year. Then I'll go through and pick the good ones and put them in her memory box. Or a prek3 file. I like the idea of taking photos and making a photo book. Bc then she can look through it...

  • I save the real awesome artwork stuff.
I save a few papers from the beginning of each year aside (math, spelling, etc) and then save a few from the very end.  And I get rid of everything in between.  That way when she's older (if she wants) she has just a few things each year to see how she improved and the changes.  My mom did this for me when I was in school... and now that I have a school aged kid of my own, it's really kinda neat to look back on my own few papers from the same age/year my DD is.   I really just save maybe 5-6 things.

  • I have a box per kid right now. Everything gets tossed in the boxes. At the end of the year I pull out whatever I want to keep and store in a giant manila type envelope. Sooooo, one day each kid will have one tub of their school stuff/pictures/awards (one envelope per year).

  • we hang the really good ones on the fridge.  I've been putting the rest in a drawer in my desk.  I want to get a storage tote to store them in.  I don't have enough time to scrapbook that stuff.

  • Such cute ideas - I never thought to make a book! :)

I display on the art wall in our playroom then either keep in a diaper box or toss. I write the grade/year on the back of each so I won't forget.

  • Thanks for the ideas ladies! I feel so guilty for some reason throwing their art work away.

I throw stuff away. I take pictures and make books. I save the good stuff. I use stuff to make cards for grandparents and aunts. I use the endless paintings as wrapping paper.
Oh wow, I never even thought of that. That is an awesome idea!

  • We mail a lot of it to my family that lives across the country. I like getting rid of it, they love receiving it, and he loves sending it. I do save the adorable stuff though :)

  • I have a keepsake box where I keep all the artwork and projects and a folder where I keep all the worksheets etc. at the end of the year I choose 3 of each to keep. The rest I photograph and then toss. My goal is to make photo books but I'm not hay organized yet ;)
