Labor Buddies

How does this work? I've seen them on other boards and I know it's super early but I'm curious now how this works. Anyone from previous BMB have any insight?

Basically you get paired with a person (typically due a couple weeks apart from you) that you message when you go into labor and they let the board know.

Word for word what @Jessie333‌ said. I know from my other board we chose someone we already felt close with/in our area. For those that didn't find one they were paired together with others who didn't find one

It might just be me, but if your going to take the time to message someone, couldn't you just make your own post?

Yeah... I don't want to be a stick in the mud but I can't pm on mobile so having a LB would be pretty useless. And kind of annoying to remember one more person to notify in my long list of people to notify.

I didn't participate in the labor buddies on my last board because they exchanged phone numbers and texted the updates. I'm just not comfortable with giving out my phone number. I don't even like giving it out to Bath and Body Works when I check out. Plus, I doubt I'll be in the mood to post a new discussion about someone going into labor when I will have a newborn and a toddler to take care of.

If this were the case I would agree. But I don't think we (or at least most of us) will be at that point.

I had a LB for every due date club/board I was part of. I either texted the person or IM'd them via FB.

We did them on my first BMB, but I wasn't a fan. I didn't particularly bond with my labor buddy and I saw her basically talking crap about me on another board (because I couldn't reply to her weekly novel PM's).

IF I'm not too busy and able to message someone on my phone, then I'd be just as fine coming here to update myself. Same goes for fb if you're in the group.

It sounds like it's going to be a preference thing. Maybe when we get a little bit closer we can organize one. I'd be down for doing the organizing. I'll probably just make an AW post of my own but when I was in labor with Leo I think I texted about 3 people and then didn't touch my phone again.  I'm a big wuss and didn't handle the pain well so I didn't really do much of anything besides close my eyes and wait for the contraction to be over. It might be nice to have someone to just PM or text when the time comes so they can AW for me. If you want I can start it now for those of you who are interested? PM me if you want.
