This will be my 3rd time and I am most definitely NOT planning on doing any preparing in advance. I did for my 1st and it was a waste. Did not for my 2nd and had a much easier labor not trying to remember everything - just listening to my body and the midwife. The 2nd time around was a much more pleasurable experience. JUST BREATHE...
I think my poor husband needs to prepare more than I do . Last time , he passed out three times before the doctor finally told him to just stay in the chair ... Haha . I've also learned a few things from last time that I now know what 'not' to do . 1. MIL is sooooo not invited to the party . Her 'pep talk' was her telling me all the ways her labor was worse and how mine really wasn't a big deal . 2. When I get close to due , bring the hospital bag with me everytime I go in . I went in for contractions but didn't think they'd keep me so I didn't bring my bag 3. Tell husband to close his eyes when I'm getting the epidural . 4. "Relax" (; Haha I can't wait for my baby to get here !!!!

Your MIL sounds exactly like mine! So annoying.
Ditto on the hospital bag everywhere you go. I'm packing mine November 1st and leaving it in the car. (Nathan was 3 weeks early - we had just purchased the car seat!)
With my first - our birth plan was to "just wing it" and am I glad we did. 12 hour labor ended in C-Section. No preparing this time either with the RCS. Just picking out the day.
I learned my lesson the first time. For me no amount of books read, breathing techniques practiced, or Lamaze classes taken, prepared me for what actually went down. This time I plan to just go with the flow.
Totally winging it. Right down to where I deliver - home or hospital. I didn't make a specific plan last time either, although I had some ideas about what I wanted, and going in water to ease the contractions... Turns out I needed to dance my baby out. The only thing that worked to get through the contractions was swaying, twirling and moving around the room. Probably looked silly but it was effective.
I will go with the flow again this time and hope that I can find something that works!
I kinda feel like I should take some Yoga or deep breathing classes or whatever. I remember hyperventilating with DD from the pain and freaking out. I'd like to NEVER feel like that again. At least to enough to tide me over till I get an epidural. Meh....I dunno.

Meh....I dunno.
My last three were all so different, my opinion is that there is nothing to prepare for, we are just going to....."let it flow"
