When did u announce?

i holded until 20 weeks pregnant to start anouncing it on doctors orders... is this normal? im 38 but 20 weeks to tell people seems excesive..

I was 7 weeks this time. We've pretty much done it early each time. We had lots of support after our mc (out first pregnancy) and figured why wait to tell ppl the good news. But what is funny is I was showing by 10/11 weeks. Here I am 22 wks and there is absolutely no way ppl wouldn't know by now.

We just announced this past week @ 13wks, wanted to wait until that first trimester was over (after a loss last year). My doctor didn't specify a date to announce, thought it was a personal preference really... did you have any losses that gave need to worry?

We told our parents at 10 weeks, siblings at 12/13 weeks, and started telling close family / friends at 16 weeks.  But only last week (20) weeks did we start telling more people, etc.  But that was a personal choice / preference.  My dr told us at 11 weeks we should feel comfortable telling anyone - but we just wanted to wait since it took us so long. 

Did your doctor say why he/she wanted you to wait until 20 weeks? (FWIW - I am 36, will be 37 when I deliver)

We told the grandparent around 10 weeks then rest of the family at 14 weeks

I told my mom and sister at around 6 wks. They are our support system. Then his parents and few family members at 13 weeks. He wanted to wait to find out health of baby. His mom lost two sons at 6 months. We didn't want her to worry. I announced on FB after they were told!

We have a general list of people who can find out early (our parents, siblings, close friends, my boss, etc). We didn't reach out to them to tell the news, but shared when it seemed appropriate. At 12/13 weeks, we'll reach out to anyone on 'the list' who hasn't already heard. Once they've all heard, it will be facebook official.

Both times we waited until after the NT scan appointment to tell the closest family. As for friends and just general public, I think last time I was 4 months along, this time more like 5. I wasn't in a hurry either time.

Our immediate family knows, but we are waiting until after the NT Scan on Wednesday (13 weeks) to announce to the Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. 

We probably won't be making an announcement on Facebook any time soon.

I'm really in no hurry to tell, but the secret is driving my parents crazy!

I'm not sure I would've been able to hold out till 20 weeks!

We've been trickling the news since our BFP, depending on the strength of the relationship.  If and when we get an all clear on the Verifi results, we won't hold back from telling acquaintances.

I'm 38 as well and this is our 2nd.  We announced at 12w after our NT scan and first ultrasound (and after finding out that our NIPT testing was inconclusive and we wouldn't have any more info until your anatomy scan at 19w). We didn't want to wait until 19w.  We had a big party this past weekend (annual end of summer cookout) and everyone would have noticed I was PG so hiding it until 20w for us wouldn't have been an option unless we remained hermits.   I've been showing for quite a while now (and I'm plus sized to begin with and it's still not easy to hide this). 

Our immediate family knew right away (around 5-6 weeks).  But my mom and I work together in a small business that we run so it would have been nearly impossible for me to hide it from her. I rarely take time off so schedule doc appts would have had her suspicious and worried!

I told my parents and BFF right away. I am at 13 weeks now, and I am telling a few close friends FTF, but plan to send out annoucements first of Oct.

We have told no one yet. We will tell parents & siblings at 15-16 weeks, and close friends will come after that, as appropriate circumstances prompt. There will be no FB announcement at all. I am ready to tell now, at 14wks, since I just got my Mat21 back (normal) and my NT came in normal as well!

After the NIPT for friends, and as late as possible at work; I may tell parents earlier if all goes well at the first, eight weeks u/s. No Facebook announcement here either.

We told immediate family and a couple of closest friends right away - they all knew we'd been trying and would be supportive if things went wrong.  And really, neither of us could contain our excitement.  Word slipped out a little more in each of our families than we had intended, but didn't travel too much.  We started telling more people as we saw them after our NIPT results - I think around 12/13 weeks.  Told work at 13 or 14 weeks, and just did the big FB announcement at 20 weeks after our a/s.

Family, boss and few friends knew when I had my first beta lol. Only reason they knew was because they knew about my transfer.

I'm no longer pregnant, was just lurking, but wanted to say tell when YOU want to tell.

I told work at 26 weeks and family at 28.5 weeks.

 I announced around 13 weeks. I have older kids so secrets don't live long here lol. I told a few people at work on a need to know basis, but by about 20 weeks everyone knew-I'm usually small and I can't hide the bump.

 But people should announce whenever they feel comfortable to-there is no right or wrong time.

I made the mistake of telling my family at 7 weeks and shortly thereafter I miscarried.  This time I waited until I was about 10 weeks to tell family and only a few close friends.  At about 14 weeks, the circle got wider, and I told my job at about 16-18 weeks.  We never did any big announcement to friends, but just let people find out organically.

I plan to after my first ultrasound at 8.5 weeks.

I am waiting for most folks until after 12 weeks (in about a week and a half). I will probably stick to family and closest friends and I am definitely keeping it off of Facebook. I'll wait until I am showing to tell my "network" of friends and coworkers (my boss and department head will get the heads up sooner). 

I'm nervous about the what ifs; putting it out there and then having things not go as planned. It's happened in my circle more than once.

I did tell my sister at 9 weeks; she had her first at 38 and I really wanted some advice on the testing that was being recommended. It's really great to have someone to talk to!

With our third daughter we waited until 18 weeks and our Anatomy can to tell anyone. It just felt right at the time.

With DS (36 at the time) we were excited and told people right away.  Fortunately it worked out.  Our second pregnancy (38) we planned to wait until after the 1st tri, told a few close family members and friends after the first ultrasound and ended up with a MMC around 10 weeks.  With this (39 at delivery) pregnancy we didn't say anything until after our NT. 

It's all personal preference, but from experience nobody ever really thinks they'll end up having a MC (in spite of the stats) until they do.  I know some friends who found comfort in people knowing and say it helped through a bad experience.  For me, it made the whole thing worse and so we waited the next time until we felt comfortable with viability.

I know the typical suggestion is to wait until at least 12...but I started telling as soon as I got the positive results from a test at a doc's office.  I took a HPT 8/24...positive, but a very faint line, so went to a clinic 8/30 to be sure and positive...started spreading the news that day  This is my first @ 35yo, so I was way to excited to wait as most close friends and family knew we were trying

I'm a little over 15 weeks and so far only told family and close friends, and only those who won't put up the news on facebook.

I'm 40 so am a little more careful, and I like the intimacy of just a few people knowing, too. I am showing but we just moved to a new city where we don't have many friends yet, that's how I can keep it not revealed. I think I'd like to share a little more at 20 weeks or so.
