Rock n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution?

So I am getting tired of listening to "baby friendly" music. Do you ladies suppose at this age that what type of music they listen to matters? It is mostly just for in the car. I personally prefer metal. I try to stay clear of the really heavy shit, I don't want him to think that a bunch of random peeps are yelling at him. Although at this point he seems to do a lot of yelling at me, so maybe he would like it.

Perhaps one day he will be in a metal band all his own? A baby metal band would be totes awesome. Just think of the awesome band names! Crib Crucible, Burn in Pacifire, Nap Crucifixion, Boobocalypse, ect.

What do you ladies have your bebes listening to? When do you think they actually know what they are listening to? At this point I wonder if it is all just all noise.

  • If DD is really fussy in the car, I turn on electronic dance. The beat soothes her. In the womb, she would always kick and roll to Macklemore.

  • I play DD "laid back beach music" pandora station. Lots of Jack Johnson, bob Marley, and sublime. She listens to the radio in the car.
  • We love metal rock punk and alternative here we can go from
Anberlin to Norma Jean to rise against to dashboard confessional and so on. He listens to it all but I admit if he's asleep in the car I do skip the heavier stuff and by no means is it ever blasting I always have it on a low volume no matter what it is. My sister in laws cousin is a speech language pathologist and she says nothing loud for little ones at all til much older bc it can affect them so no loud music, stadiums etc without proper ear protection

  • I listen to jazz when we're in the car. At home, it depends on time of day but typically I prefer her to be winding down so City and Colour is a good go to or Dave Matthews, etc.
  • The belly buds playlist I made for him included Corrosion of Conformity and Foo Fighters so I say rock on! \m/. (It was their lighter stuff, but still).

Now that he's here, I listen to lullabies in the car. I even forget to change it when he's not with me.

  • I never play "baby" music, it's always a mix of what we listen to which varies from Mos Def to country! She really likes all music and the playlist I played for her in my belly has tunes she definitely recognizes. The other day she was loosing it in the car and a familiar song came on and she chilled out...till it ended! I need to get a hookup so I can play music in the car, we only have one in my husbands car.
  • We plan to raise an Interpol, White Stripes, Modest Mouse loving baby. We're an indie/alt rock loving house. It hurts my husbands heart when he hears me singing good old fashion lullabies. But meh, that's my childhood right there!

Ahh! Just like us! I love Modest Mouse. It makes me happy anytime I listen to them. I requested them yesterday at home as my birthday soundtrack. So many favorite songs.

We also like Alt-J, Pinback, Phoenix, just to name a few...baby girl will always be exposed to the alternative bands we love.

Then, baby girl has also jammed out to Kendrick Lamar with us. My husband also likes hip hop.

  • DS1 likes a lot of electronica. We went to a Reel Big Fish concert when I was 7 months pregnant. Otherwise, they both listen to whatever we do, which tends to run the gamut of music from rap/hip hop, metal, rock, pop, and electronica.
