You guys have me wondering...

I can't begin to tell you how much I've been educated through this site, and the community forums.
But to make a long story short,
-- I finally got AF....today is day 8 and it is still a medium to light flow
-- My doctor told me to take Letrozole days 3 - 7...and that's done

But my wondering comes in because my doctor didn't schedule for me to come back in for follow ups to check follicles, sizes, etc.
She is my ob/gyn.  It makes me wonder if she knows what she is doing.  She told me to continue this every cycle until I get pregnant.
If I don't get pregnant then she would send me to an RE.

As I  have read in so many other posts, doctors who seem much more engaged with their patients regarding taking this medication.
Just needed to get that off of my chest.

REs specialize in this, OBs don't. I would seek out the RE sooner rather than later.

I was taking Clomid unmonitored by my OBGYN for 2 cycles a couple of years ago (I was ignorant, and definitely didn't do my research) The first cycle I was on 50mg and he said it worked because I got my period on CD14. The 2nd cycle I took another 50mg and I think I got my period a little later in that cycle and he said I "probably" didn't ovulate (because of the late period) and upped my dose to 100mg for the next cycle. I stopped taking Clomid after that because my husband and I got engaged and started to focus on the wedding instead. But after seeing an RE for the first time in November and reading up on infertility treatments and going on boards like these, I DEFINITELY realized my OBGYN didn't know what the hell he was doing! When I went in for my annual PAP last October he asked me "So when are you going to get pregnant?" I was in utter disbelief. He must not have read in my chart I was having infertility issues and that he had prescribed me Clomid that year. I've been seeing this OBGYN for the last 15 years and really liked him, but after that apt I told myself I needed to find a new OBGYN after that insensitive comment!

Yes, find a RE asap.  Have you had CD3 bloodwork or an HSG to make sure your tubes are clear?  Has your partner had a sperm analysis?
As AMA ladies we don't have time to waste with unmonitored cycles.  Good luck.

My OB put me on clomid for three months, no monitoring, no diagnosis of what was wrong.  From charting I had suspected that I wasn't ovulating so I sought out an RE on my own vs. waiting for a recommendation - especially because I knew that the RE my OB would recommend wasn't who i wanted to see.  The RE diagnosed the PCOS and confirmed that I was not ovulating and we went right to injectables with the trigger.

During our last time of ttc the RE and I decided to try the letrozole with timed intercourse - but he was sure to monitor it. 

Another factor is that the RE monitored the progesterone levels and prescribed supplements, which I needed for both pregnancies. 

I agree, find an RE that you like.
