Stuffy nose

My 8-week-old has a pretty stuffy nose. Any suggestions on what to do?

  • Thanks! He just started daycare this week so I think he may have picked something up. He doesn't have a fever, seems to be feeling fine otherwise, and what came out was clear. Do you think it's a cold or maybe something else? He's been spitting up quite a bit more the past few days.
  • Probably a little cold. DS1 just started up at preschool and in the first week brought home a cold he has now passed on to the baby. It's so hard to see them like that :(

Has he ever had any reflux issues? The spitting up and stuffy nose could be that, too. I guess if it doesn't go away or gets worse it would be worth a call to the doctor just in case. But probably most likely he picked something up at daycare. Hope he feels better soon!
  • I looked this up because my 7week old sounds stuffy. Everything I've read said don't do anything. Using saline spray can actually make their nasal passages swell so quickly that they have a hard time breathing. I'd call your pediatrician and see what they s say is best.

Can it really? Where did you read that?
  • My pediatrician said to do the saline drops and nose Frida twice a day for the stuffy nose. I learned the hard way don't do it at night because it wakes them up and they think it's play time.
  • @LeaLupins‌ sorry didn't see your response here is the site m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4254692 sorry it's not clicky I'm posting from my phone. I read it and it mentions a name neosynephrine so maybe it's just that medicine. It still says typically a Dr will tell you to leave alone

  • You may ask your pediatrician about reflux too...DS had same symptoms and has been diagnosed with reflux
