OT baking substitutions

Hey @Mapleme‌ or anyone else that can help (though I won't heed your advice as openly unless you also run a successful bakery)...I found this *potentially* yummy recipe for coffee cake. But can I substitute something for the pecans? I really don't like nuts in my cake

Re: OT baking substitutions

  • Just leave them out. You could sub any nut. But if you don't like nuts, eff 'em.

  • But wouldn't the topping mixture need something else in it or it will be runny? Maybe I can just use less butter

  • Oh, yeah, I guess that is a lot of nuts. (TWSS.) use less butter and see what happens. You want it to be crumbly.

  • maybe throw some oats or granola in instead. I'm a fan of oats in crumbles, but I also think just leaving the nuts out should be okay, too.

  • Hey @Mapleme‌ would skim milk be really bad instead of whole milk? We never have whole milk

That's totally fine. You could up the other fats by a small amount (5%-10%), but chances are it won't matter much.
Awesome. Thank you so much :)
