Halloween Costumes!

Is anyone making LO a halloween costume?

I believe we've decided to do Count von Count from Sesame street as DS loves counting along with him and saying "Ah ha ha".

I have a feeling it will just be the clothes and the cape though, since LO hates hats/hoods etc.   I'm a little concerned about the cape but I think I have a fallback of using the skeleton pjs I found at Gymboree last halloween, and he could be a toddling skeleton.   I want to make one of those skeleton mama shirts for myself since I'm showing this time around, but I will have to see if I get LO's costume done first.

What are your LOs being for Halloween this year?

I have a couple of costumes my mom made for me and my brother when we were young, but they are still too big for her. Unfortunately, I did not inherit her sewing ability.  This year she has her heart set on being "Baby Jaguar" from Dora.  I kid you not.  I tried to talk her into a generic kitty cat, but she insists she wants to be Baby Jaguar.  The closest I could find is a toddler leopard costume on Amazon.  Fortunately she can't tell the difference.

She wants to be a dinosaur which is easy because she'll just wear the dragon costume she wore last year and not know the difference. I'm glad it was big on her last year so it will fit perfect this year. I had also seen this so if we end up at multiple parties like last year I might mix it up and try my hand at making this for one of them.

Last year Sophia was a farmer (overalls, bandana around her neck, and straw hat). This year we might get a lion costume bc one day when she was talking about lions on TV and I was reminded she hadn't had her vitamin yet I said, "speaking o lions, do you know what we forgot?" (her vitamins are animal shapes) She excitedly responded "A lion costume????" I have no idea where that came from but it just cracked me up. She's mentioned lion costumes a few times since that day. My mom made all of our costumes as kids but I don't have as much talent either or time to get some thing together.

Lucas is being Mickey Mouse that's super easy to make, Nathan a sherif because he loves sherif Kally so I'm buying the hat and making the rest, and Danny is captain America I'm buying him the sweat shirt with hood that is a mask, making a shield and calling it good for the year.

I bought fabric yesterday and ds has been carrying the sesame street print around wanting to wear it in his shoulders so it's a good sign, hopefully he doesn't get upset when it changes into a cape from a rectangle of fabric!

I bought a bumble bee costume for $2 at Target last November. It's got short sleeves and is kinda short - so she'll have long black sleeves and sweat pants on under (we're in MN).

I have no sewing abilities so my Mom picked up a second hand costume for Em for us. She is going to be a lion this year because she will now say "roar" if you ask her what does the lion say and I think it is just too cute

I would be ashamed to put DD in anything I made. I have ZERO skills in that dept. She keeps saying she wants to be Minnie Mouse, but I'm going to take her to BRU to see all the options and let her pick. Right now there costumes are 30% off.

These are night gowns at target that would be great costumes they are $18.99 plus you can use them a ton after Halloween !!! Mrsshawnvanb

Thanks Belle, those are really cute! Though, I'm not sure how comfy they'd be as pajamas! lol. I took DD to BRU yesterday to check out the options and was not impressed with the price and the quality. So, we may go this route. It looks like these pj's would be easy enough to pop a long sleeve tee and leggings under too, if it's cold out that night.

My mom bought DD a Queen Elsa dress from Frozen. DD LOVES Elsa and we went to a Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party so she got to wear it there too. It looks awesome on her especially with her white blonde hair.

After I made the costume DS decided he doesn't like it so I have a feeling we'll end up going as skeletons in pjs, however I'm going to bring the costume to my sister's house just in case when he sees his cousin in her Elsa dress and cape he decides a cape and jacket are cool
