Rec your iPhone 5S case

I am the type of person to wait until the newest iPhone comes out before I upgrade and then getting the next to newest iPhone for a steep discount. So I am very excited to be getting the iPhone 5s this week :-)

For those of you who have had that phone, which cases works best for you? My current iPhone 4s has an OtterBox, and while the phone itself is in fabulous condition, the OtterBox is beaten up and destroyed after two years of use. I don't know how well it would've held up to an infant or toddler, as this next phone will have to do. Maybe something waterproof?

Don't want to spend a fortune, but I do realize that a good case can prevent me from having to buy a new phone, which is worth a decent investment.

Re: Rec your iPhone 5S case

  • I have the lifeproof case. I prefer it over the otterbox which people I know I have.- first of all it is waterproof and second of all the screen. It comes with a screen protector but isn't part of the case like the otterbox. So it feels more like the actual screen.

I have an otterbox on mine after going through 4 pretty cute cases in a year and always an ishieldz on the screen ( which has a lifetime warranty and they replace it as many times as you need)
  • I have a life proof case. There is a warranty on the case, and I managed to break mine within the first 3 months. (I'm good like that) they replaced it with an entirely new case.

  • I have a 5s and went for looks vs function, which might not be what you want :)  It still works to protect it, but possibly not like the otterbox or lifeproof.  I've dropped mine like 3 times, though, and nothing happened to it.

    I have a cuptakes-

They are horrid to get off/on but they're so pretty.

  • My H and I both use Incase. I like the way they look and I think they do a good job protecting your phone. If you want to have screen protection, you have to buy that separately.

    Here's their website:

Also Best Buy has combo pack deals on cases and screen protectors

  • Life proof!!! It's amazing. It's perfect if you drop your phone regularly and it's water proof (and not just I dripped water on it, you can take underwater videos) Otter boxes are equally as good with the exception that they aren't able to be fully submerged in water.
  • I just did the same thing this week! I ended up getting the life proof case because I'm known to drop my phone. It was expensive but worth the cost.

  • here's another vote for Lifeproof! I had an otter box on my old phone and it fell apart...the phone was still in good shape but had to get a new case...no issues with my lifeproof love that it's waterproof too
  • I have the leather case that Apple released with the 5s last year and I love it. It's pretty small so it keeps my phone small, which I like. I've also dropped my phone a bunch and it's still going strong.

  • I had a LifeProof case for my iPhone 5S and my 18 month old destroyed it! They replaced the front cover only, so it was never really waterproof again. Less than 6 weeks later it was destroyed again. I called to complain and they gave me attitude. I reminded them that their commercial depicts a toddler roughly playing with a phone in one of their cases but they said my child must have done something more severe. I declined a replacement and switched to a cheap $5 cover from Target. Needless to say I'll never buy LifeProof again.
