Help needed!

Hi... Hope you gals can provide some much needed insight/ideas/guidance!
To make a long story short, my lo has a cows milk protein allergy (via breastmilk) with a cross reactivity to soy. He's also sensitive to egg & wheat. I am on a strict diet and have been breastfeeding through this. Lo has been struggling to gain weight the entire time. We had an emerg call with the ped 2 weeks ago as he was just about 5 months old and had yet to double his weight. He then had an acute reaction to hidden dairy... So, ped wants us on neocate 100%. We were given 2 cans to trial and I was mixing bm with neocate and he was taking it okay. He eventually was good to take neocate on it's own with bm being his number one (so supplementing with formula). He has gained over 12 oz in 2 weeks which is awesome!! Definitely want to keep this up...the problem is that he now refuses neocate 100%. Screams bloody murder when I try. Any ideas as to how I can get him to supplement again? He clearly needs the extra.
Thx in advance for reading!

Re: Help needed!

  • They want him on neocate 100% but I'm not sure I'm 'ready' yet. Hoping to make it to 6 months and supplementing seems to be working, really well. At least it was...

  • Thx ladies. Was kind of hoping my pumping days were over!
  • I would keep mixing it, but gradually reduce the amount of bm so he gets used to it easier. Then you can stop pumping when both of you are ready.
