ebf/pumping and leaving baby at home question

I tried to search but didn't know what to search.

My son is almost 4 weeks. I was pumping in the beginning because I was having bf issues. Now he is bfing great! I was pumping once a day so dad could feed him once at night. Mostly because he really liked doing it.

LO is now eating consistently every 2 to 2 and a half hours. I don't have time or energy to pump any more!

My question is some day I would like to go out for a longer period of time without lo. Now if i go anywhere it will be for 2 hours and then i rush home. How does this work!?!?!? Am I just rushing things with it only being 4 weeks? I feel like I probably am just getting sick of being at home!

Not sure if this was really a question but any advice would help.

I probably should just be greatful that I can bf and he didn't need formula!

Thanks!

Re: ebf/pumping and leaving baby at home question

  • I have no problems feeding him somewhere else when he is with me.

This is more that I was invited out at night to the bar with friends and just cOuldn't figure out how to do it! I probably should have said that part in the beginning! Lol! I plan on ebf for at least a year. Should I just put this thought it off my head?
  • I'd just pump a little bit after every feed until you have a full bottle, then go out and have fun. Missing one feed isn't going to hurt anyone.

  • Another question! What about missing a feeding and leaking? Does this eventually go away or do I need to bring equipment to pump for a while?
  • Honestly I always took my girls with me. It was a PITA to attempt to pump for an outing. Another option would be to pump one side while lo nurses on the other.
