  • Yes-- care.com is awesome & we just started preschool for my daughter.

  • DH does not travel too often, but when he does he is gone for months at a time.  When he travels I usually travel back home to visit friends and family, we relocate a lot as well.  The last time DH was gone I decided to stay, it was for three months, and it was emotionally and physically exhausting!  I know all too well how you feel.  I found Preschool, a gym with childcare, and MOMs club to be helpful.  Try to get out of the house and find time to do things for you.  Lowering your expectations on yourself is also very helpful - easier meals, etc.

  • DH was gone for a while while I was pregnant, gone for a week when DS was just born, and just recently gone for 6 weeks over the summer.

It's tough, but I found the days where I had activities planned went alot easier.  If you are exhausted during this pregnancy even something simple like making a big deal out of a movie night is exciting for the kids.  Make them a blanket fort and set them up with popcorn and a drink.

We went to the museum a lot this summer bc it was indoors and DD loved it, and I could push the baby in the stroller or carry him.

I make a big deal out of letting her help in the kitchen which also excites her and gives us something to look forward to (decorating cookies, making homemade pizzas...etc)

Also, we are very strict on a routine.  Dinner @ 5:30, Bath @ 6, Bedtime @6:30.  I don't stray from that and that also helps.

Welcome!!! Feel free to ask any questions or vent if you need to :)

  • Hi!  My husband is working out of town for the year.  It sucks.  He left in June, a few days after our fourth baby was born, and we won't be co-located again until next July.
I feel you on how hard it is.  I was expecting to be physically tired, but I was surprised by how emotionally draining this is.
I second the idea of making a big deal out of movie night.  We are actually going to do that tonight.  I also have friends over for dinner whenever their husbands were out of town, which is kind of nice.

I will say that this experience has given me a new found respect for military wives.  I have no idea how they do it.

  • Thank you guys!!!! These were allll so helpful! Gonna just hang in there! After the first trimester i will have my energy/sanity back n before i get into my 3rd hubby will be back and helping out again......well sort of i still do everything lol!!
