Yesterday we finally de-iced our deep freeze, which had 3 years of accumulated ice in it and we could only fill it to about 50% capacity. I put it outside to thaw but it wasn't happening fast enough so my husband went out there with a hammer, chisel and blow torch to help it along (this sounds much more insane than it really was). Alexander sees Daddy going out with his tools and insists he go help, too. As soon as he sees the hammer, he goes nuts for it so I went in the house and got him his much-safer toy Mickey Mouse hammer.
He banged the crap out of the ice for over an hour. Even once it was out of the freezer, he smashed every piece in the driveway. He was soaking wet, freezing and had the time of his life. Later on that night, I see him walking around looking puzzled and I asked what he needed. He said very seriously "Mama, I need that hammer so I can go back outside and fight the ice." It was such a serious tone, like the ice was a serious menace to us. I love that we're entering the stage of him saying crazy and hilarious stuff.
What has your kid said that made you laugh out loud this week?
