Q's 15 month checkup

Poor Q freaked his shit out from minute one of being weighed.  Peanut boy is 20.5 pounds (and I guessed it down to the ounce!) and 30.5" tall (but he gained two pounds and two inches from his last visit so at least he's not dropping off!).  His melon continues to be his most prominent part lol  He only has two words right now and we all wish it was more but it's not a concern right now.  She said she'd like him to have 6-10 words by his 18 month appointment and I'm counting on a word explosion *fingers crossed*

The only surprising thing that came out was about his "chicken skin."  She said it's keratosis pilaris and is often associated with nasal allergies.  We joke he's had a cold since the day he was born but we were always told he's "just a wet baby."  We don't have carpet or lots of stuffed animals in his room.  I could probably stand to dust more :) but for now she wants him on a mini dose of Claritin.

Poor bastard got three shots and screamed like hell and then koala bear-ed himself on to me.  Sniff.

Re: Q's 15 month checkup

  • Ugh, shots again.  I guess that's going to happen at all appointments.  Our appt is Friday, and I'm pretty sure we will end up with the same stats as Q.
By the way I didn't know he was a bastard.  ;)  Kidding.

  • @subliminalrabbit that sucks! I hope he surprises you.  @itsstackie Consider it a term of endearment vs a technicality lol  I hope your appointment goes well.  Power to the little ones! *fist bump*

  • We just had a mini word explosion, from 0 to 3 in less than a week (and she tries to sing along to twinkle little star). Have you asked DC if they notice any new words? I honestly would not have known DD knows "ball" if my mom hadn't told me.

  • @mcbush he doesn't sign.  He knows mama (VERY well.  Except he also calls DH mama, which makes me laugh.  I think he just thinks it means parent lol).  He also knows ball and has said "no" and "up" a few times but it's not consistent.  Oh and sometimes he says "Aiduh" if he wants his brother.  She said she's not worried because his receptive language is awesome.  Like, if we hand him something and ask him to throw it away, he knows to go to the barrel, open it, throw in and close it.  And when we tell him it's bedtime/bathtime/diaper change time, he goes to the stairs and waits at the gate :)

  • Alex has kp too, but no one has mentioned allergies to me! I have found coconut oil at least makes the redness go away on his arms, but doesn't do much for the bumps.

  • I swear that this was the worst time with the shots.  I think they understand more about it now.

  • Yeah, that was a pretty traumatic appointment for E, as suspected. When he screamed his little head off at the stethoscope I knew we were in trouble. He remains in the 20th percentile for weight and height and 70th for head! Little dude with a big noggin!
Poor E :(  But that's us over here! 23% for height, 16% for weight (!) and 69% for the head.  Lollipop kids :)

  • @NurseMommy13 it's worth a call. Q got his flu shot today.

  • That's odd because, like I said, we got a bunch of shots at this appointment.  We are never able to schedule appointments less than 3 exact months apart or, when they're older, less than 365 days apart because of insurance and vaccine schedules.
