Here's my vent for the day

Disclaimer  - if you are against the flu shot/mist, awesome.  But, we choose to get it (especially this year because I am pregnant).  I totally understand why people don't get it and I used to not get it myself (however, 2 years ago I was the only one in my family who didn't get it and I caught the flu. And it was miserable). Regardless, rock on with your choice.

That said - I took the kids to get the flu mist today. We did it last year with zero problems.  And in hindsight, I should have just done the shot but I was trying to make it the least traumatic event I could.  DD (3) did awesome.  And she was worried about it all day.  DS (6), however....asked the nurse for a tissue afterwards to wipe his nose. She gave it to him and didn't say "but, don't blow your nose" (and I blame myself as well, because I didn't say it either and it is my responsibility). And what does he do? Blow his nose.  She goes and asks the doctor and as expected there is nothing they can do - they can't administer another dose and he is not protected. He can't get another dose until next year.  I am not ashamed to tell you that pregnancy hormones kicked in and I teared up.  I know it isn't the end of the world, and he may not get it (and I know they may not get the right strain). But, I was MISERABLE when I did get it and it freaks me out because I am pregnant.

That was really silly of her. As long as you have yours, at least you will be fine.

DS got his at his 9 mo. check up the other day...feels so early!
