Coxsackie virus (HFM) :(

So apparently A has been lucky enough to contract a new version of the coxsackie virus that starts as a diaper rash. She got a rash Sunday night after some loose poo, woke up yesterday with 103 fever and vomiting. I took her to the pediatrician this morning and literally right in front of my eyes I watched all the spots pop up on her hands and feet and body and watched her mouth blister I've never seen anything like it in my life. Her poor butt is so raw and blistered I could cry ( my poor baby (

Have any of you, or your DH's gotten coxsackie from your kids? I know it can happen and I'm nervous with baby-on-board.....

When ds got it, his was bad. It covered his whole body and he got a secondary infection around his mouth. But dh and I didn't get it. I would just take all precautions you can and wash those hands, a lot.

Poor A I am so sorry. I don't have any experience with it, but I hope she is feeling better soon and you and YH stay healthy!

My coworker got it from his kids and he had to stay home from work for a week. I think it's rare for adults to get, but you should check with your OB.

My kids had it about a month ago but neither myself or DH got it.

When my DS got it he got a rough dose of it. He had hundreds of blisters all over. Worse were on his feet, hands and bum. He could it walk for 2 days due to the pain.

My DH got it,not as bad at all, but still got it. Nothing in the mouth, just hands and feet. Just wash your hands after every interaction with LO and always after a diaper change. I do more with my LO and did not get it so who knows why.

Sorry, but it is not a fun virus at all. Would not wish it upon anyone but it is going around everywhere.

Poor kid

DS got it probably about a year ago, although his case was much more mild.  Neither of us got it, we just made sure to constantly wash our hands.  Hope she feels better soon!

A friend had it this summer (her daughter had it) and she is due to deliver next month. Baby and mom were fine, but she did mention that the mouth sores were pretty terrible to experience.

Poor A, I'm so sorry!  I got it when E did, but MH didn't.  Both of ours were very mild cases.  I only knew E had it when I found the blisters on my hands and feet.  Then I saw them on her.  She never complained once.  FX you don't get it.

I'm so sorry she's sick.  I agree with lots and lots of hand washing.  I've actually never known anyone who got this.  My niece, however, was misdiagnosed with coxsackie when she really had Stevens Johnson syndrome.

DS had it in early June when I was stimming. At the time my RE said even if I got sick, they'd keep me stimming and wouldn't let it interfere with ER/ET. So at least they weren't scared about it in that way.

Both DH and I got strep about 5 days after DS was better (luckily my ER antibiotics counted as part of what I needed) and we never got a clear answer on whether it was related. My BFF's kid had it the same week (same daycare) and she did get it and was pretty unhappy for 48 hours. She said at least as an adult she could identify what didn't feel right and ask for the right medicine.

That sounds awful :-( I don't have any experience, but I'm so sorry that A is going through this. I hope she feels better soon and that you don't catch it.

No advice - I have never heard about that being so bad before! So sorry your LO is going though that, hopefully she is on the mend soon!
