I wouldn't have thought about bison, it's not something I think kids would think about. I knew of a few Brysons growing up, most went by Bryce as they got older.
I think two posts about your kid's name in one night is a little over the top.
I agree with others that it sounds made up. I don't like the way it sounds.
Of course, it doesn't matter what we think. It's your kid, name him what you love.
Two posts about it in one night? Really? One was a simple yes/no. I didn't know we had limitations on what we could post. And yeah of course I could care less in the end, he's my kid and all that matters is what his family thinks. Thanks!
You're being an AW with the two posts, and you specifically asked for people's opinions, only to say "I don't care what you think!" What you should have said was "Please tell me you love this name even though you don't because I desperately require validation, and I will turn into a petulant child if someone dares to disagree with me." Okayyyyy.
OP, I don't think pointing out that two posts (your only two posts?) In one night is policing. That was actually me trying to politely tell you that you were coming off as an attention whore. I really don't get why you asked for opinions when you can't handle other people having different opinions without getting defensive and even aggressive. But, I don't think logic works on someone like you.
I heard babycenter is really positive about baby names!
None of the responses were catty. You asked for opinions and got honest opinions. I'm sorry that most people on J15 don't like your baby name.
It is a little silly to post 2 threads concerning the same topic, back to back. I don't really care, but it does look a bit ridiculous claiming that people are 'stalking' you when your posts are both on the first page. It also come across as a bit conceited. If you're on mobile (I am) you don't get to see who posted the thread until you click on it.
The ladies here are not just going to hold and pat your hand, and tell you what you want to hear. Please don't be petulant.
ACTUALLY... I don't care what the rude commenters have to say. (You're one of them) If people didn't have anything nice to say about the name, don't say anything at all. I wonder what their and your kids names are. I'm sure they're THE BEST.
I'm sorry you find this online community SO important and crucial to your life that you have you have to monitor MY posts. Is there anyway to block people? You know the ones acting like "petulant" children themselves? It makes me chuckle that they can hide behind the safety of a computer screen and act tough. The validation of your panties in a twist due to having to act tough online is validation enough to ignore you now.
Oh and I am with @sassquatch - I don't understand why more people don't know what bison is, especially since we don't have buffalo in the US. We have bison. What everyone calls buffalo is actually bison..... that's why when you go to Ted's Montana Grill you get a Bison Burger, not a Buffalo Burger
The American bison (Bison bison)
lives only in North America, while the two main buffalo species reside
in Africa and Asia. A small population of bison relatives called the
European bison (Bison bonasus) lives in isolated parts of Poland.
I love you for knowing that they're two different animals. My kids know what they are, maybe we go to the zoo too much?
...wait... there is no "too much" going to the zoo! The more you know!
I hate the zoo. lol Not opposed to it, but it's always too hot, too cold, mosquito infested, or too crowded. You're watching most animals sleep, are too far back to see, or there is so much glass between you, you might as well just show the kids a video of the animal actually doing something.
I still take my kids on occasion because for some reason they love it.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG I'm done. Please enjoy talking to yourselves, as I WONT EVEN BOTHER reading these ridiculous posts. I've had the best laugh and it's not even 8:30 here. I hope those few who WERE rude get knocked off the high horse you think you're on.
We WILL enjoy talking to ourselves - it's what we do every day when we come here and share and support each other in the community that we built together. You might know that if you had more than one post besides the two threads you created in one day.
I certainly could not care less if you "bother" reading these posts or not.
Right? Go to sleep and come back and there's GBCB post over a NAME?!
For the record, we didn't learn about bison or buffalo or many animals at my school. Or DHs school. We also don't have a zoo in the city I grew up in. There is one where I live now, but we only once every few months. Its too damn hot.
I will say I told my husband no to the name Rolland because all I could think of was "roly poly" and this kid will have half my genes so there's a chance he could be round...

@sassquatch I know the different between bison and buffalo, but I grew up in Kansas, and we had a chapter on using them in Kansas history. But in retrospect, im pretty sure they were always referred to as buffalo, which is apparently wrong.
Also, I love bison burgers.

Welp, I pretty much assumed the OP would take a dive off the deep end into crazy town after my post, and I was not disappointed. What a nut. No one was "rude" about her ugly baby name (there, I said it), but to see that she truly expected nothing but "nice" responses with no negative feedback shows that she's wearing an exceptionally tight pair of crazy pants. Good riddance.
Oh, and @sassquatch I knew the difference between bison and buffalo!
well that was fun to read while eating lunch thanks ladies! I'm taking my 14 month old daughter to the zoo for the first time next weekend! I can't wait! And the aquarium the week after that! My husband says shes too young to appreciate it, I disagree...she thinks our chocolate lab is the greatest thing since cheese...(because she loves cheese and not sliced bread ) I'm super excited!
Everyone, I just want to sincerely apologize. I DID ask for opinions and I got very defensive. If you all are willing to accept I acted like an ass, than I will admit I did act like an ass. If I hurt anyone's feelings or you thought I was attacking you personally, I'm sorry and that's not my style anyways. I kinda have been uptight lately/on edge and got super super defensive and just took it out on this. Can't even blame the hormones. I hope we can laugh at this. I feel really bad. Apologies ladies.
Edited for spelling error
Thumbs up for recognizing you overreacted. I'd be embarrassed too, except instead of apologizing I'd probably make a new account and start over! Good for you.
You could tie yourself in knots trying to find a name that can't be made fun of, and some jerky kid will decide to call your kid "big nose" or "unibrow." Unless you give your kid a generally awful name, I wouldn't worry too much about this.
Also, there are so many worse things to be called than "bison." Bisons are pretty cool.

Udder sloot fest ending in a group hug? Is that right? I just skimmed cuz I'm still in Texas, enjoying America for 5 more mins. The majority will not like your name unless it fits in a Jane Austen novel.
Right?
But I did get an education on buffalo v bison!!
I'm actually happy I checked in for this exact reason. I feel like such a dunce for not really knowing this.

I only want to add that the phrase is COULDN'T care less not could. If you could care less it means the opposite of what you're trying to convey. Just my PSA tonight because it's a pet peeve of mine
I totally missed this and only see x now. Was she wanting to name her child Bison? Or Buffalo bill? I am going to have nightmares of silence of the lambs now.

She wanted to name him Bryson, which sounds like Bison or Dyson.

I have no idea. I just googled Jensen Ackles shirtless and this amazing thing popped up.
I really encourage the same google search, ladies
Ps. Can we get clarification on beefaloes?
