Help with more girl names?

Hi all!
We found out we are having a girl last week. Since before we got married we have liked McKenzie Rae. But I'm not sure if that sounds ok with our last name, Lashley. Our sons name is Connor Ellis. Can anyone please help with other names for our girl?
We like the idea of Celtic sounding names as we both have a lot of Irish blood and Lashley is Irish.
Some names we like:
Bryna
Addison
Madison
Mariah

Mckenzie/ Mackenzie isn't really a Celtic/ Irish name, though?  It's just OK for me, personally.  I don't like it, but I don't totally despise it.

    Suggesting for you

    Brenna

    Adele

    Madeline

    Maren

    Maeve

    Shannon

    Colleen

    Brigid (love this name!)

    Noreen

    Maura

  • Just like the idea of them, they don't HAVE to be celtic. Thank you for the suggestions :)
  • None of those are Celtic, and I'm only partially a fan of Mariah. Do not like McKenzie. Other suggestions:

Brenna, Deirdre, Fiona, Iona, Kiera, Moira, Maura, Nora, Rory, Bevin, Bridget, Shannon, Tara, Colleen, Kerry, Maeve

  • Like I just said they DON'T HAVE TO BE CELTIC. And Bryna and Brenna are the same just spelled different
  • And MacKenzie is scottish which is one of the celtic regions.

And MacKenzie is scottish which is one of the celtic regions.
Not trying to be difficult, but I believe MacKenzie is English. It derives from the Gaelic surname of Mac Coinnich.

And until you said it's supposed to be pronounced like Breanna, I would have assumed Bryna to be pronounced BRY-na.. because phonetics.

Mariah is lovely and I'm always a huge fan of Bridget, as pp suggested.

*Edit* because I don't feel like doing any work today, I looked it up and Lashley is also considered to be English in origin. "habitational name from Lashley Hall in Lindsell, Essex, or from Latchley in Cornwall, both named from Old English læcc ‘boggy stream’ + leah ‘woodland clearing’"

Please don't yell. I was typing as you were writing this, and in 2 places you said you liked Celtic names. Nowhere at that point did you say they had to be Celtic. Since you twice said you liked them, I figured I'd toss some out that would be lovely. Especially with a Connor.

Check babynamesofireland.com. Bryna isn't on there. Brynn is nice.

Yeah. I'd calm down on the caps. People are just giving you suggestions based on your preferences, and not all the suggestions they gave were gaelic/celtic.

Bryna is ugly and awful. Brenna is ok.
Started adoption process in Jan. 2011.
    3 failed matches in 2012.
    Surprise pregnancy in Aug. 2012.
Precious baby boy "HC" born May 2013.
    Began researching EA in 2014.
No longer pursuing EA due to fibroid complications.
Officially on the adoption home study wait list.

  • Based on Madison, Addison, and McKenzie (all yuck) I would suggest

Adeline, Adele, Adelaide, Madeline/Madeleine, Meredith, Miranda

  • I love Brenna for you, it's simple, lovely and would sound great with your DS's name.

  • How about:
    Gemma
    Heather
    Hannah
    Kirsten
    Ava

  • My name is Brenna. I could care less if people pronounce it Brenna or Bryna. They do both. It's not like being called Breena. That's unbearable.

I'm sure. The point was tho, that if you look them up, the correct pronunciation is going to be different, and they are definitely two different names, although somewhat similar.
