TTC after 35

2 day period

So after coming off loestrin, my first period(which started 5 1/2 weeks after stopping loestrin) was 3 days and day 4 was spotting. That cycle lasted 49 days, and I got my period again this past Saturday. It lasted exactly 2 days. Today is day 3, and it is 100% gone. Nothing. I'm thinking maybe it's just trying to work itself out after years on BC pills? I also had a short LF of 10 days before my period... Is this common, the wicked short period? Anyone else experience this?

Perhaps it's trying to read this at night, but I'm having trouble figuring this out. So you were on BCPs for 49 days and now just a 2 day period? That does seem very short. I know my periods are much shorter after coming off the pill, but you could check with your RE if this wasn't normal for you.
An LH is lengthy at 10 days? Seems pretty long. Are you just using OPKs or are you temping too?

  • My periods regulated very quickly when I went off Loestrin FE. I was on BC for 16 years, 5 of which were Loestrin. I think you should contact your doctor for her/his opinion. That seems unusual.

  • Personally I wouldn't worry about a 2 day af... I'd pay attention to my lp by temping and ensuring I had at minimum a  10day luteal phase.  Regulating after bc pills can take a while.  Best wishes
  • I wouldn't worry too much! Just coming off the pill makes everything wonky for a bit.

  • If you are worried, definitely ask your doctor, but as PPs have said, it can take quite a while for your cycle to regulate after going off BC.  I would give it a few more months to let your body straighten itself out.

  • I hate that doctors don't tell women that it can take them up to 6 months or even longer to 'level out' after coming off of birth control of any kind. Anything in that time is pretty normal - shorter or longer periods, shorter or longer cycles, spotting, etc. They really do a disservice to women not warning them of this!

OP, what you've described is well within the realm of 'normal' coming off of BCP, even months later.  And you don't know your LP (luteal phase, not LF) was actually short if you're not temping.  Allow your body some time to sort itself out before worrying if anything is wrong - and in the meantime, get an account with Fertility Friend, do its free tutorials, and start temping.  You'll start to see patterns emerge as your body moves further away from its stint on BCP and things will likely 'normalize' as you go.

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback. @gscoville I do temp. I have a ff account and my chart is in my signature but I don't think that shows up on the mobile app of the bump. My cycle was 49 days. LP was 10 days. You are right though... Why do t doctors sit down with you and say "look, you are going to be a cycle roller coaster for a few months so expect nothing?! Mine was prescribing me provera and clomid a month and a half after I stopped BCP. I didn't take it. Anyway, thanks all again! 2 days this time, maybe 3 next time! :)

I'm not mobile, your FF link is there but all it links to is a little banner that lists your CD day.  It's not linked properly to your charts.

  • WHEEWWW!  OK now it's fixed.  Thanks @tlc35 and @gscoville for the siggy help.  It finally works.  Now you will see my charts and see that today's temp is wildly high for no reason at all!  Every day is a mystery!

  • Yay, it works!  I also have had some weird high temps in the first week of my cycle.  Try not to worry about it.  FF does a good job of ignoring aberrant temps.
