when were you told to do a kick count? I'm not worried about anything now....just can't remember with the other pregnancies. I see the doctor next week and will ask then but figured someone here would know!
I haven't asked. But I have never heard of a doctor asking for them in second tri.
From all I have heard, most doctors don't ask at all.
yes, I think it's later too. Just was wondering. I had to do them with my daughter per doctor order because she didn't move a lot. Actually what made me think of it was how much I'm being kicked right now! LOL
Much later if at all, definitely not the second trimester. It is perfectly common to not feel the first kicks until after week 24 in a first pregnancy... and much longer until you have enough distinct kicks to count them regularly.
I was going to ask this same question today! As I remember from my last two I believe they said if there hasn't been movement in awhile that is when you do a kick count but you wouldn't have to do it daily or anything like that. Trying to remember how many weeks I was when I started. I think it was around 20-23.
I think I was around 30 with my daughter. I know at 21 weeks (what I am now) movements are irregular anyways. Having complications and a pregnancy loss a year ago and a cerclage in now makes me on edge but I know that it's too early....the question popped in my head and thought I'd ask. Thanks for the answers!!!
When I went in for my 24 week appt. my doc told me I should feel 10 movements every 2 hours at the very least and not that I necessarily had to do them but that if I felt worried that baby wasn't moving much, this is what I should look for.
None of my doctors have brought it up yet and I just had my 27-week appointment on Monday. I just take mental notes to myself if she's more quiet than usual one day than to see if she's more active the next.
22 weeks and haven't been asked to do that yet. Just noting movements at this point. Making sure I feel him at least once in the day. I believe it will be asked of me in the third tri. Good Luck!
