It's also being reported now that the NFL indefinitely suspended him. I hope he's done in the NFL now.
TTC since August 2011, Me = 40, DH = 38 Unexplained IF. Tried Clomid for 3 cycles. All BFNs. BFP 1/6/13. Chemical pregnancy.
Moving on to IVF#1. ER 11/26/13, 16 eggs retreived, 12 mature and all fertilized. 2 blasts transferred on 12/1. All other embies arrested so nothing left to freeze. Beta 12/10 = BFN. IVF #2 March 2014. BFP!!! TEAM BLUE!!!
Supposedly the NFL had already seen the elevator footage that TMZ released before doling out the 2 game suspension. Now that the actual punch has been seen by the public they are taking more serious action. This pisses me off. There should have been a harsher punishment from the get go.
My thing is this - everyone saw the first video of him dragging her out of the elevator. Based on the video of her walking into the elevator and then him dragging her out of the elevator - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that something drastic happened in there. Shame on the Ravens and the NFL and all of the newly outraged celebs for not being outraged when the first video surfaced. Just as someone previously stated, the outrage should've been there from the beginning.
Rice is not done in the NFL. Vick plead guilty to felony charges, 2 I believe. And he is back. Unfortunately these men generate money and the people that benefit from that will bring them back.
I agree that punishments need to be fair across the board. Suspending a coach for an entire season for a "bounty" scheme that didn't exist but an initial 2 game suspension for domestic abuse. Come on.
I continue to be pleased with my FB friends. Cutting down my list a few years ago was a great decision. The only thing I see is friends "liking" articles about his termination.

He already admitted what he did. The ONLY difference is now the public can watch what happened.
This is entirely PR related.
This was exactly my point. No matter the evidence or confession, it wasn't a huge deal until the new video showing him actually striking her was leaked to the public. NFL hit the "oh shit" button real quick.
This thread is going in a weird direction for me. Why are we talking about the Solange thing? Because it also happened in an elevator? Sure, that was also not ok. But bringing it up now feels like reaching for "but women can be abusive too". Which... Yes, true. But we have no evidence of that in this case, and it is obviously not as widespread or as damaging an issue as violence against women.

He was arrested but he has a plea deal thing. I am cynical and believe that the NFL only did this in response to pressure. But I am very pleased that they received pressure. I think they handled similar atrocities pretty poorly to mcbenny's point, so this was a refreshing change of pace. The league has demonstrated that they will only crack down on disgusting violations of human decency when the fans demand it. So we need to keep demanding it until things change.

I would assume him keeping the $25 mil was part of the contract termination clause.
Unable to even.

For me what is most disturbing in this video (it's all disturbing) is that after he knocks her out, he just casually waits for the elevator to reach it's floor. He barely glances at her.
This is what DH and I were discussing last night. He was like, "People get angry and do stupid shit. They don't think. But he didn't show any remorse or surprise at his actions. If that were me, I would be on the floor with you, crying over what I had done and calling 911."
That is what was most disturbing to me. As casual as he was about doing that in a PUBLIC place, makes me absolutely terrified of what he would do in private. I would fear for my life, if I were her.
@auburngirlsc While I get being outraged, and I totally am outraged on a daily basis that violence against women (and really violence against humanity) is so easily dismissed because of talent or fame in the sports areana (and arguably life). I also believe, without admission of guilt or video proof (both of which they had in the Ray Rice case) they can not and should not punished without being proven guilty. It is a slippery slope.
So the wife is standing by her bastard husband and blaming the media for "ruining" their lives in a statement she made on her insta account. Makes me so sad to hear her say these things. This is a classic victims response and one who is stuck in the cycle. Denial/honeymoon stage. I do hope she is able to see the whole picture one day and get out of that relationship!
I'm not really surprised the NFL spoke to them together...I think they half assed* their "investigation" in order to get the answers/ results they wanted. The owner of the Ravens just admitted that they stopped trying to get elevator footage once he was indicted.

Second, Rice was a great player at his peak, but 27 for running backs is the point where most are past their peak. He's done.
