1 year birthday

Because I'm terrible at planning parties, I need help.

My son's birthday falls the day before thanksgiving this year. We'll probably set it for the day after.

I'm not into themed parties. I'm more of a keep it simple person, but I'm at a loss for what to do.

So far I'm thinking of getting a white onsie and adding a bowtie, suspenders, and a big "1". Similar to this:

I like the idea of everything being sewn on the shirt.

Then I'd like to make him either a crown or a party hat. The crown would be similar to this:

But would a party hat go better?

The cake I'm thinking of going with a layer cake and then a cupcake as a cake topper for him.

Help.

If you want to keep it simple, keep it simple. He's 1. Save the stress for when they can demand things. If you want to do more and have ideas, I'm not saying you shouldn't - but, don't stress. Especially if you have any kind of holiday hosting to do.

Although more importantly, what diaper will he wear?

That is my main problem...

Oh that's cute! What colors are you going to go with? You could get the dragonfly ripple best bottom cover and do the shirt in grey and lime green. Or huckleberry cobbler and do navy and lime green. The crown image isn't working for me, so I have no comment there.

I like these colors. I may spring for a dragonfly ripple to match, because I'll strip him down to his diaper and hat for the cake.

I think I always get nervous about birthday parties because my MIL always wants to go all out and I'm more like a bake a nice cake and put out the pre-bought veggie and fruit trays kind of person.
