Elevated white blood cell count, anyone?

Good Monday morning, all! My doc just told me my HCG was 97 on Friday (at 13 DPO, so I'm happy about that) and most of my values were totally fine but I have a "slightly elevated white blood cell count." She said not to worry and that it could be pregnancy related or a sign of minor infection somewhere in the body (although she checked urine for infection too and it came back clear). Of course the Internet uses words like "leukemia" and "HIV" which is not helpful at the moment. I feel totally fine.

Has anyone had any experience with this "slightly elevated" business?

Thanks a ton.

  • Any infection can do that, it could be as simple as the begining of a cold or flu.

  • It is my experience that just about any symptom you google can be linked to leukemia or HIV.  Don't let it worry you, if your doctor thought it was cause for concern, they would tell you.

  • Thanks for the reassurance. Indeed, the Internet likes to freak out. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen as well.
  • Mine have been very slightly elevated throughout my pregnancy. And my red blood cell couny had been a little low, as has my hemoglobin. My OB was concerned about anemia, but not about my WBC count being out of range.
