carpel tunnel PAIN

Bam.. hit with carpel tunnel this weekend.  Today I can barely work (computer work) and I was up way too many times last night in pain. My hands from my fingertips to my elbows hurt and finger tips tingle. I don't know how I'm going to function here at work today. I will be calling my OB when they open, and am sure I'll need to get braces for both hands, but that doesn't help me today. Any tips to help me get thru the work day? At this point I'm thinking I may take a half day off work.

ETA: I did find the recent post. Thanks ladies! Sorry for cluttering the board

  • There was just a post about this. I can't link because I am on mobile but pretty sure it is on page 1...

  • I did search but maybe I spelled it wrong. I'll look...thanks!
  • There was a post on this recently. Like yesterday I think. But you could try drinking a lot of water. It hurts because the nerve is getting pinched from swelling. Maybe a lot of water will help some of the swelling? I dont know. I had the hard lace-up braces but they were too bulky for day time use. I got some flexible elastic stretch wrist bands and they were firm enough to help. Do you have a break you could run to a pharmacy and pick up a pair?
  • Wrist guards at night help and drinking lots of water does help to some degree. Mostly it's just something you fight through until birth. I've had it in both hands, but particularly my right now for almost a month. Doing stretches of your fingers (making a fist then stretching them out, etc...) helps some too.
