IMMS Monday

I am starting this because it is 8:30 and I am already in an awesome mood.

I had planned on starting some kind of gentle crib traning with C last night that I assumed was going to involve me sitting up with him for hours.
Instead he fell asleep while finishing his bottle, went down in his crib without waking up, and slept for 11 hrs straight. It's been months since he did that!
A full nights sleep and the two naps I got yesterday makes me a new woman today!

Re: IMMS Monday

  • C said "uh oh" this morning when my husband said it.

I had a 2 1/2 hour battle with C Saturday night because he wouldn't go back to sleep at midnight, so I put him back in his crib (I picked him up multiple times to rock him back to sleep, but as soon as he started playing around he went back into the crib).  At about 2:15, he calmed himself, laid on his tummy, grumbled a little as I rubbed his back, and went to sleep.

As bad as that was, it makes me smile that last night I fed him, put him in the crib, he grumbled a little and went back to sleep for 3 hours all by himself.

I made a huge batch of Heady Pepper Hot Sauce (with Heady Topper IPA) over the weekend. The post on the bakery's FB page is getting insane traction. Most of my posts are viewed by 50-150 people and that one post has already been viewed by almost 1,700 people in less than 24 hours, with 4 shares and 583 clicks. And the bakery has 10 new likes. And a local farmer just called me wanting to sell me some habaneros and ghost peppers (both of which my regular farmer is short on this year). And I don't even have the bottles labeled yet. Yay hot sauce!

If you're getting way more views that normal you should promote it now.

I'll be placing an order for more hot sauce in a couple months (we need to actually use up some of it first).

What is the likely hood that some of this hot sauce will be left?  As in one bottle.

Also the Peach one was really good on wings yesterday.  Yum.

Have you promoted things on FB before?

J does regularly with the business. He found that posts that are already getting attention do the best when being promoted. He's had a lot of people remark on his FB campaigns, and lots of new customers specifically from seeing him on FB.

What can I mix the hot sauce with instead of butter for dairy free wings?  Preferably not one of those butter substitute things (like smart balance or whatever) that I will buy for this situation then never use again in my life.  Can I use some type of oil?  (Has to be soy and nut free too.)

The Heady will be available as long as we have hot wax peppers, which are the most prolific peppers that our farmer grows. However, we also have made a Green Sriracha, Tomatillo & Smoke and Smoked Sriracha that are likely to sell out faster. You can prebuy a case of 12, get two free plus free shipping and we can hold everything aside for you until you want it. Just email me each time you see something that you want and I will set it aside until you have 14 bottles and then I will ship it to you.
OMG you are awesome.  I may talk to my husband tonight and see if he wants to do some hot sauce for Christmas gifts for my family.

I marinated the wings in hot sauce + olive oil and then baked them on a rack for 45 min at 425. They were fantastic.
How much hot sauce and how much oil?

Also, do you marinate over night?

Yesterday I made pumpkin muffins and pumpkin spice syrup for my coffee.  The muffins are only okay, but it was my first time baking with coconut flour, so I'm sure it'll take some practice.  And I forgot the syrup today.  But still.  I made stuff.
P has started grabbing things.  I love it!
UPDATE:  I microwaved (gasp!) the muffin for a full minute here at work, and the texture is MUCH better.  So perhaps they were a touch underbaked.  They passed the toothpick test so I thought they were done.  You live and you learn.

Also, apparently this thread has been Maple-Jacked.  :)

Well, it's a mini microwave at work, so not super powerful.  But they were also rather (cringe word warning...) moist inside.  The microwave was full of steam by the time it finished.

I totally had IF written first and then changed it - cuz we do have to keep that attitude that it will work. Even if it takes 2 weeks.  Ugh dreading this.  What made you go for it, btw?

I'm not sure, really. Mh tried a nap one afternoon. Total fail. And he just seemed ready :-/. Also, mh has been on the couch for a long time and I feel bad about that

Naps have been a complete success!! But bedtime has been tough. When I tried at eight months old to have him sleep in his bed...he would cry if we just walked in there after his bath. That's a bad association with bedtime, huh?
Now we go in there and he climbs into bed with a book-totally fine.

That's whats holding me back right now -she's been going to sleep for me really well in the last week. I still can't leave the room, but she will lay in her crib and go to sleep without me having to say "lie down" 349,837 times. And without crying.  I love that its peaceful. But she doesn't stay there - we have been then bringing her in with us from about midnight on - and we're getting decent sleep but its just not what we want for all the time. If we get her back to sleep in the crib she's up every hour until we cave. So we need to not cave.

What's a day w/o stringy and meesh threadjacking into a sleep discussion?

Ghee works. Clarified butter that's had the milk proteins removed.

  • E had physio today and she actually was engaged and played for once. The therapist is happy with her improvements and I don't think she's quite as behind for her age anymore! It's slow, and frustrating when the poor girl just wants to get moving and can't physically do it yet, but I am so happy with how well she is doing.

Also, I'm just about finished reading the book Quiet by Susan Cain. My therapist recommended it to me and I am so happy that she did. Amazing book. If you are an introvert, I highly recommend it.

  • We stopped in Ipswich for fried clams today. So delicious! It's been at least 10 years since I last had them.

Love it there! Better than woodmans, IMO. Though if you need dinner...you should compare. And get some cider donuts if you drive by any of the orchards! Gah I love fall.

He has always had to be put down 100% asleep, and that take about and hr of rocking after his bottle most nights, so we are attempting to work on that before the new baby gets here.

  • Ok. Sleep. What do you do when your baby has no self soothing skills whatsoever? In fact, it's the opposite. He sits up before he's even fully awake. I've seen it too when I'm holding him. He's asleep, then he sits up and spits or yells or something, then opens his eyes and looks around. So basically every time he wakes at night he doesn't know what to do with himself. He's rubbing his eyes and hitting the bed but won't lay back down.
Are you ready for a marathon?  Because this is what my Saturday night was like.

My kid stands and screams, with his eyes still shut.

I just gently put him back on his tummy and rubbed his back for 2 hours.

This is where we have been. bedtime and wakeups usually involve an hour of rocking because he has two modes- asleep or screaming. He will go back to sleep almost immediately, but if you move or attempt to put him down = screaming

  • IMMS that DH got up with DS yesterday morning and let me sleep.  He even got coffee and donuts while I was sleeping so I woke up to breakfast.  Then he told me what happened to him which made me more than smile...

He got out of the car and he was carrying DS in one arm and balancing the coffees and donuts in the other arm.  And his pants fell down.  Around his ankles.  He was going commando because he was waiting for laundry to dry.  I asked him if he put everything down and pulled his pants up and he said no... he waddled into the house that way.  OMG.  We have a neighbor across the street with a perfect view into our driveway!!! We hadn't met her, but then she came over to introduce herself that afternoon and now I like to tease DH that she has developed a crush on him after that view.
Stoney. Greatest. Story. Ever. YH sounds like a comedic keeper.

  • It made me smile this weekend to go into the playroom and find that DS had taken his undies off and was sitting on the potty and had peed. All on his own.  We had a pretty successful weekend with potty training but I'm a little anxious about how it went at daycare yesterday.

It also makes me smile that DH is already over near daycare helping a friend and can pick DS up so I don't have to.  That area always floods in bad rains and it rained all day.  On a day like this it can take me twice as long to get home.
