***Making A Home Monday***

Do you decorate you homes for the different seasons?

I have wreaths, door hangy thingies (yep, that's going to be a word today) for each season and some holidays. The only holiday we really decorate big is for Christmas!

  • The only religious holidays we observe are Jewish ones, so obviously no Christmas decorations. When LO is old enough to want to decorate for Halloween we will do so, until then nothing.

  • @MoFree‌, do you decorate for Jewish holidays? We do a lot of non Christian Christmas decorations. I know some of my Jewish friends do trees.

  • @Iloveshanej‌ No, we do not have a Christmas tree. Christmas is a Christian holiday and not one observed in my home.

  • I love to decorate my house Christmasy if we have parties or are going to have people over. A couple years ago, we hosted a massive dinner party, around 75 people, for my dad's retirement. And the house was really decked out. It looks beautiful. But it was so much work to put everything away afterwards!

Last year, I used the fact that DS was too young to know the difference but old enough to want to tug on the tree as an excuse not to do much. But we have two artificial trees in the garage and DH decided to get one out for the living room. We put stockings up and I have one box of relatively easy decorations to get out. I haven't decided how much I'll do this Christmas.

As far as other holidays, not really. But I do love to put a patriotic decorations for Fourth of July! But again, it really depends if were having people over or not.

I wasn't trying to offend or upset you. The Christmas tree is actually a pagan tradition adapted by the Christian religion, that's why I ask. I know some that decorate for the holiday season to celebrate winter. Maybe I should've said the holidays because I would never intentionally leave any religions out. This post was really more about seasonal decorations. I'm just used to say Christmas.

  • We put up a tree with lights for Christmas and carve pumpkins for Halloween but the rest of the year we don't do much. Most of my decorations are functional- we are in a small condo with limited storage, so I'll switch out the tablecloth or something but nothing fancy.
  • I do- we have those decorations that stick on your windows for most of the different holidays. We also have additional decorations for Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc. And we have a flag outside our house that we change with the seasons.
