Toddler sleep regression

Ugh. DD (3) has decided she never wants to sleep and wants to wake up early and at night. She has always been an amazing sleeper from day 1, so this is odd for her. But a lot has happened lately to spur this I'm sure (sleeping on the couch while sick, sleeping with me when company was over, the baby, etc.)

Anyone experience similar regression with their toddler? Any hope, advice?

Anyone use one of those color changing lights to let kids know when it's morning and when it's not? I was thinking of this...

Re: Toddler sleep regression

  • I'm there with you now with my almost 3 year old.  Its like the last two weeks he doesn't believe in sleeping anymore.  He didn't get to bed until 11pm last night and was up again at 6am with bells on.  Thankfully he took a nap today, but OMG.

In DS case the sleep change coincides with a switch from DC to pre-school.  I'm hoping once he adjusts to going to school he'll sleep again.

  • DS is almost 3 and is seeping less and less these days. It started back in March when we took the rail off his crib in anticipation of my c-section. All the changes in our household over the past few months have just made it worse. Fortunately he's a sweetheart no matter how much sleep he misses, but it's been rough on me. I'm so tired!

  • Eek...a year! I will never sleep again!

Once I got the baby ready to leave this morning DD's light was on in her room. She had her diaper and pj pants off and panties and pants on and was sitting on the floor waiting for me. What a nut!

    Everyone just needs sleep!

  • Our 3 year old DD has struggled a lot in the last 6 months since she moved into her big girl bed. I will definitely keep DS in his crib as long as he will stay!!

  • DD1 (almost 2) has had major sleep regression since DD2 was born. She used to go to bed awake after her bedtime/naptime routine and go to sleep on her own. She slept 12 hours at night. Now she won't stay alone in her room, she screams and screams and screams so I have to sit with her until she falls asleep, which now takes 2 hours. If she wakes up in the middle of the night I have to sit with her for 2 hours. She also fights naps like crazy and I literally have to pin her down in the bed until she falls asleep. I hope this passes soon, I'm exhausted!
