Boring Birthday Q?

Is 1 pm a good time for a party? Also, would you put an end time on the invite?

I feel like such a noob!

Eta: maybe one 4 year old will be there. We don't really have friend with kids. Dd naps by 10-11.

Re: Boring Birthday Q?

  • What age group? Are you serving food?Personally I don't like it because it is late for lunch.

Considering that you don't have to worry about kid nap times, I think 1:00 is fine.

ETA: I would put 1-3 on the invitations. 2 hours is pretty standard, right?

  • We did DD's 2nd birthday party yesterday. We held it out our house from 2-5 (some good friends stayed a little later). We chose that time so she could nap at home, and continue to do so even after the party started, and also I didn't have to provide a full meal. We had heavy apps and cake and ice cream.

In what world is 1 late for lunch? :/

I guess for people whose kiddos wake up at 6am. :)

Okay but if I start it earlier then my dd will not have napped and will be a hot mess. Which won't be fun for anyone.
Ok then I'd do like 2/3 start and serve appys

  • @aditigirl‌ - my son's 2nd birthday party will be the same date and time as your kid's party. My invites will not be that adorable, though.

If you're not trying to cater around naps, 1pm is fine. For anything that doesn't fall over a "standard" meal time, it's nice to include what you expect... if you're planning to serve lunch, let people know. If it's just going to be cake and ice cream, let people know that too. There's all kinds of "cute" ways of saying these things.. but it lets your guests know what to prepare for.

    Agree.
